Alfred N. Pennington, 75, Augusta, died today.
Funeral services are pending with Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta.
Verl Allen (Gilder) DeWitt
Verl Allen (Gilder) DeWitt, 27, Colorado Springs, Colo., died Saturday, Jan. 12. He was a former Augusta resident.
Funeral services are pending in Colorado Springs, Colo.
DeWitt was born Oct. 18, 1963, in El Dorado, to Verl Amer Gilder and Mable Mae Fennell.
He was adopted by John C. DeWitt in 1964.
Survivors include his mother, Mable Mae DeWitt of Colorado Springs; father, Iohn C. DeWitt of Augusta;
four brothers, Jeremy and John Curtis DeWitt of Augusta, John Richard DeWitt of Clearwater,
Marie DeWitt of Chanute; two sisters, Amanda of Augusta, Diana Wools of El Dorado;
brother-in-law, Ronald Lee Wools Jr. of El Dorado;
three nephews, Joshua, Jeremiah and Justin of El Dorado; grandmother Madline Copeland of Eureka;
great-grandmother, Ethel Mag-gard of Augusta.
His natural father, Verl Amer Gilder, preceded him in death in 1963

Retired farmer and stockman Robert E. Groom, 81, Augusta, died Monday, Jan. 14, at the
Augusta Medical Complex Inc.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta. Burial will be in Wilmot Cemetery.
Groom was born Oct. 26, 1909, in Wilmot to Mabel (Swain) and Arthur Lee Groom.
On Dec. 1, 1932, he married Laura Anna Moore in Newkirk, Okla. She preceded him in death in 1987.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Groom.
He belonged to the First Christian Church.
Survivors include daughters, Esther Pressnell of Augusta, Roberta Boucher of Denver, Colo.;
brothers, Harry Lee Groom of Cambridge, Kan., Geleston “Buss” Groom of Winfield; sister, Nola Neidert of Wichita;
10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.

Retired iron worker Alfred Newton Pennington, 75, Augusta, died Tuesday, Jan. 15.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta,
the Rev. Michael Omundson officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
Pennington was born Nov. 17, 1915, in Senora, Aik., to Calora (Jones) and Pless William Pennington.
On Feb. 21, 1934, he married Lora Mae Elliott in El Dorado.
He was a member of Mystic Tie Lodge 74, the local Iron Workers Union 606 and the First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lora; sons, Dick of Augusta, Dennis of Udall, Kim of San Angelo,
Texas, Dana of Omaha, Neb.; daughters, Dawn Anderson, Deanna McClellan, Durene Butler,
Dorinda Pennington, all of Augusta; brother, Earl of Ran-toul; 22 grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren
