Retired Sedgwick County Courthouse employee Pedro H. Resa, 84, Wichita, died Wednesday, Feb. 6.
He is the father of Augusta resident Tony Resa.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Our Lady of Peipetual Help Catholic Church, Wichita.
Rosary will be read at 7 p.m. today at the same location.
Other survivors include his wife, Otilia; sons, Pedro Jr. of Mexico, Ernest of Palmdale, Calif., Gilbert of Winfield,
Richard of Manchacca, Texas, Luis, Edwardo, both of Wichita;
daughters, Stella Elliott of Wichita, Virginia Mendoza of Wichita, Sylvia Wilkinson of La Mesa, Calif.;
brothers, Valentine of Juarez, Mexico, Jesus Escudero of El Paso, Texas; sisters, Petra of El Paso,
Lucia of Mexico; 33 grandchildren; 52 greatgrandchildren.
Byrd-Snodgrass Funeral Home, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.
Rita Gail Bryan
Student at Butler County Community College.Rita Gail Bryan, 38, rural El Dorado, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, at home.
Funeral services were today at Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel, Augusta, the Rev. Gus Kubish officiating.
Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
Bryan was bom Dec. 18, 1952, in Clarksville, Ark., to Alma Emma (Sellers) adn John Edward Gean.
They preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Chad Ernest Bryan of El Dorado; a daughter, Tonya Lynne Shope of Manhattan;
a brother, Alan Gean of Farmington, Ark.; sisters Johnnie Stafford of Danville, Gloria Sue Caldwell of Clay Center,
Connie Darlene Gean of Berryville, Ark.
C.D. Lewellen
Charles D. Lewellen, 73, Rossville, formerly of the Augusta-El Dorado area,
died Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Rossville Manor nursing home.
A graveside service for Mr. Lewellen is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday
at the Sunset Lawn Cemetery in El Dorado.
The Carlson Funeral Home of El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Aug. 17, 1917 in Chelsea as a son of R.T. and Susie J. Parker Lewellen.
This army veteran of World War II worked as an aircraft worker at Beech, Boeing, and
Cessna before retiring in 1970. He resided in Augusta from 1975 to 1982.
Survivors include three sons, Elwood of Madison, Marion of Fort Gibson, Okla.,
Craig of Broken Bow, Okla.; two daughters, Sharon Elder of Yates Center, and
Linda Kelley of Rossville, and 11 grandchildren.
Bertha Cox
Bertha Cox, 92, Augusta, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Wichita.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson.
Burial will be in Memorial Park, Hutchinson.
Cox was born Sept. 12, 1898 in Okeene, Okla., to Frank & Elizabeth (Hill) Rade.
She had been a homemaker wand lived in Augusta since 1988.
Survivors include three daughters, Ethel Coleman of Hutchinson, Lillian Postier Bell of Pratt,
Fern Ratcliff of Larned; two sisters, Hanna Smith of Redding, Calif., Lily Nuze of Okeen.;
15 grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren; 13 great-greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been estabished with the Wichita Children’s Home.

Retired grocery and service station operator Marie E. Bair, 82, El Dorado, died Wednesday, Feb. 6.
She is the mother of Robert Bair of Towanda.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado.
Other survivors include seven grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren.

Former Augusta resident Herbert H. Hamblet of Venice, Calif., died Friday, Feb. 8.
A graveside funeral service has been slated for Thursday, Feb. 14,
at the Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary.
He leaves a wife, Juanita Stinnett Hamblet; two sons, Herbie of Montana, and Don of California;
a daughter, Patricia Hank of Calabas, Calif., and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Hamblet’s home address is 2468 Glencoe Avenue, Venice, Calif., 90291.
Raymond Carver
Retired Boeing Wichita modification mechanic, 72, Wichita, died Saturday, Feb. 9.
He is the brother of Augusta resident Orville Carver and Leon resident Wilma Howell.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Lake-view Funeral Home, Wichita.
Other survivors include his wife, Grace; son, Jim of Wichita; daughter, Pat Mercer of Wichita;
brothers, Everett of Poughkeepsie, Ark., Elvis of Evening Shade, Ark.;
sisters, Una Spurlock of Evening Shade, Ark., Ova Ratliff of Wichita, Lovwand Carver of Batesville, Ark.;
eight grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Maude Carpenter Children’s Home.
