Lloyd G. Black

Lloyd G. Black, 68, Douglass, retired Cessna Aircraft Co. machinist, died Thursday, April 4.
His funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home, Douglass.
Burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
Black was a lifelong resident of Douglass, an Army veteran and a member of Douglass American Legion Post 202.
He was born March 27,1923, in Douglass to Henry and Bessie (Cobb) Black.
Survivors include three brothers, William T., Bob, both of Valley Center, Carl of Wichita;
a sister, Louise Cole of Winfield.

Masonic service

A Masonic graveside service will be conducted at Elmwood Cemetery tomorrow
for Clark Andrew Gruver, 74, Tulsa, Okla., who died Wednesday, April 3.
He was the brother of Augusta resident May Gruver.
His funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Stanley Funeral Home, Tulsa.
Local services are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Dunsford Funeral chapel
with Rev. Burl Allison officiating.

Frank Graves

Former oil field worker and retired Fashion Cleaners partner Frank Graves, 96, Parsons, died Saturday, April 6.
He is the half-brother of Douglass resident Billy Graves.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Riverview Cemetery, Arkansas City.
Other survivors include sister-in-law, Edith Vint of Parsons.
Burris-Carson-Wall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Leon Council

Decorating contractor Leon K. Council, 64, Benton, died Sunday, April 7, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Wichita.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the Benton United Methodist Church,
the Rev. Fred Houston officiating. Burial will be in the Benton Cemetery.
Council was born Sept. 22, 1926, at Fort Smith, Ark., to Ben & Lula (Watkins) Council.
He farmed south of Benton for 21 years before moving to Benton in 1979.
He was a member of the Ben-tion United Methodist Church, the Benton Lions Club
where he held several offices, the Sunflower Horseshoe Pitching and Gideons International.
He had served with the Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita; son, Craig Hughes of Wichita;
daughter, Kathy S. Dickson of Wichita; brothers, Ben P. of Irving, Texas, Bill E. of Ponca City, Okla.;
sister, Mary Ann of Ponca City; four grand-children; two greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Benton United Methodist Church.
Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado, is in charge of arrangements.

Roger E. Bates

Roger E. Bates, 54, Moore-land, Okla., a Hewlett Packard employee, died April 4.
He was a former Douglass resident.
His funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Ninde Garden Chapel in Tulsa, Okla.
Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, at the Douglass Cemetery.
Bates worked for the past six years with Hewlett Packard in Tulsa.
Survivors include his wife, Carol of the home; two daughters, Valerie L. Melton of Guthrie, Okla., Lori J. Roberts
