Ralph Cales Sr.

Retired Winfield Post Office city carrier Ralph LeRoy Cales Sr., 78, Winfield,
died Monday, April 8, at the Medicalodge of Douglass. He is the father of LeRoy Cales of Douglass.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday at the New Salem Cemetery.
Cales was born Dec. 12, 1912 in Burden to Elmer James and Mae Anders Cales.
He attended grade school west of Burden and graduated from Winfield High School in 1931.
On Jan. 22, 1944, he married Pauline Cochran in Winfield. She survives.
During World War II, he served with the 137th Infantry from 1941 to 1945.
Cales retired from the Winfield Post Office in 1972.
He was a member of the Central Baptist Church, Winfield.
Other survivors include two more sons, Darren & Jerald of Winfield;
four daughters, Sharon Flower, Barbara Leffew, Glenda Brown, all of Winfield, Sue Atherton of Concordia;
three brothers, Lloyd & Morrel “Mose” of Winfield, Elmer of Boliver, Mo.;
a sister, Alma Mae Leavell of Winfield; a stepsister, Margaret Henderson of Arkansas City;
20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Miles-Wheeler Memorial Chapel, Winfield, is in charge of arrangments.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas State University Center for Basic Cancer Research.

Charles Goudie

Charles W. Goudie, 74, Whitby, Ontario-Canada,
brother of Rev. George Goudie of First Southern Baptist Church here, died Sunday, March 31.
His funeral service will be tomorrow in Pickering, Ontario-Canada.

Kay Ann Little

Dillon store employee, Emporia, Kay Ann Little, 39, Emporia, died today at HCA Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
She is the daughter of Marlene (Stebbens) and Robert Little of Augusta.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at Dunsford Funeral Chapel, Augusta,
the Rev. Dale Valentine officiating. Burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
Little was born April 3, 1952, and was a member of the Christian Church in Douglass.
Other survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Bill & Barbara Little of Augusta;
sister and brother-in-law Polly & Nathan Knapp of Douglass;
nieces and nephew, Amanda & Shilo Knapp and Jessica & Angelic Little; ,
grandmother, Velma Stebbins of El Dorado.
A sister, Teresa Lonberger, preceded her in death.
Memorials have been established with the Butler County Community College
through Douglass High School and the First Christian Church, Douglass.

Clark Gruver

Retired Crest Engineers of Tulsa employee and Mobil petroleum engineer Clark Andrew Gruver, 74, Tulsa, Okla.,
died Wednesday, April 3, in Tulsa. He is the brother of Augusta resident May Gruver.
Funeral services are 9 a.m. Saturday at the Stanley Funeral Home, Tulsa.
Local services are 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Dunsford Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Burl Allison officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Gruver was born Oct. 20, 1916, in Augusta to Minerva (Goble) & Jesse Gruver.
On June 9, 1945, he married Hazel Grady in Augusta. She survives.
Other survivors include son and daughter-in-law, John & Linda Gruver of Plano, Texas
daughter, Gail Hubbard of Garland, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Molly & Bruce Bishop of Mesquite, Texas;
brother, David Gruver of Overland Park; one stepgrandchild, Tierney Bishop of Mesquite.
Memorials have been established with the St. Francis Hospital Hospice of Tulsa,
Shriners Crippled Children or the memorial of your choice.
