Lela Johnson
Lela Johnson, 84, of Augusta died yesterday, Feb. 14, 1996 at Walnut Valley Manor nursing home.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Hillside Funeral Home Augusta.
Rev. Edsel Lovette of the First Assembly of God Church will officiate.
She was born Feb. 21, 1911. Mrs. Johnson, once an active woman in community affairs that helped others,
had been a resident of the nursing home since June of 1994.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Augusta.
Mrs. Johnson leaves a daughter, Clara Hoover of Strasburg, Colo.;
two sons, Everett Johnson of Augusta, and Bill Johnson of Guymon, Okla.,
as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Johnson, and a daughter, Sharon Rhoads.
Memorials to the Gideons organization have been suggested.
Jay Elliott
Jay Elliott, 81, Augusta, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 1996.
His service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, First Christian Church, Augusta, with Rev. Michael Omundson officiating.
He will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Elliott was born May 27, 1914 in Augusta to Dan and Ina (Snodgrass) Elliott.
He was a member of the Mystic Tie Lodge, a member of the First Christian Church
and was retired from the Mobil Refinery after 37 years of employment.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ellen, in 1942.
Elliott married Wanda (Morris) on May 9, 1937 in Lincoln. She survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Anita Stoops of Seattle, Wash., Jaylyn Elliott;
brother, Wayne Elliott; sister, Lora Mae Pennington, all of Augusta;
five grandchildren, Marnie and Scott Rountree, Terry, Daniel and Rochelle Tolkin.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church.
Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.
Logan Hubbart
Logan Marie Hubbart, 8-year -old daughter of Linton Lee and Dana Beldene (McGrew) Hubbart of Augusta,
died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 1996, Via Christi St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Wichita.
Her service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the First United Methodist Church of Augusta.
Rev. Vern Bowers will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Hubbart was born June 2, 1987 in Wichita. She has attended Haverhill School in Haverhill and
Martin Primary School in Andover.
"Though Logan faced constant medical challenges, she embraced life with reverence and appreciation"
according to her mother. “She was on this earth for a short, powerful time enriching the
lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her....We are forverver blessed by this wonderful little soul.”
She is also survived by her sisters, Jeralin and Sylvia Hubbart, of the home;
grandparents, Loyd and Billie Hubbart, Augusta.
A memorial has been established with Families Together.
Hillside Funeral Home, Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.
