Melba Hancock ,

Melba Hancock, 87, of Augusta died Dec. 25, 1996, at Augusta Medical Complex.
Her graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Elmwood Cemetery. Pastor Frank Miller will officiate. The family will receive visitors from 8:30 until 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. at Dunsford Funeral Home.
Melba Almetta Nance was born Feb. 5, 1909, to James and Elizabeth Nance in Missouri.
She married Orval Hancock Oct. 20, 1928, in El Dorado. He preceded her in death in June 1996.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors are sons, Don Hancock of Wichita and Garland Hancock of Augusta; daughters, Lawanna Smith of Yates Center, Dorla Vigil of Montrose, Colo, and Judy Miller of Augusta; 18 grandchildren and 35 greatgrandchildren.

Virgil G. Strickler

Virgil G. Strickler, 83, of Osage City and formerly of Augusta died Dec. 3,1996, in his home.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at First United Methodist Church in Osage City. Burial will be in Osage City Cemetery.
Mr. Strickler was born Feb. 15, 1996, in Indiana to Rev. Lerton and Ethel (Badger) Strickler.
He married Evelyn Simpson Jan. 28, 1936, in Nevada, Mo. She preceded him in death Jan. 31, 1993.
He was a buyer and sales representative for C.R. Calvert Company and a partner in Strickler's Shoe Store. He retired in 1978.
He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Osage City and a member of the Augusta Masonic Lodge.
Survivors are son, Vance Strickler of Osage City; daughter, Treva Whalen of Topeka; brother, Paul Strickler of York, Neb.; sister, Bernice Burkley of Laurel, Mont.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice or the First United Methodist Church in care of Crable Funeral Chapel, 107 N. 6th St., Osage City, KS. 66521.


Silva A. Lindsey

Silva Abeline Peggy Lindsey, 99, of Augusta died Dec. 15, 1996, in the Augusta Medical Complex Long Term Care Unit.
Her funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Dunsford Chapel. Rev. Chuck Terrill, Haverhill Christian Church, will officiate. Buria will be in Braman Cemetery in Braman, Okla.
Silva Olinger was born Oct. 13, 1897, to George and Alice (Garrison) Olinger in Alden, Mo.
She married Robert T. Lindsey Nov. 4, 1915, in Braman, Okla. He preceded her in death in June 1992.
Mrs. Lindsey was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors are grandson and his wife; Jerry and Pat O’Donnell of Leawood and niece, June Elliott of Augusta.
A memorial has been established with the AMCI Long Term Care Unit.
Contributions may be left with Dunsford Funeral Home.

Marc A. Reeves

Marc A. Reeves, 40, rural Augusta, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, at his home.
His funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Wichita. A graveside service will precede burial in the Wilmont Cemetery at Wilmont.
He was born Nov. 6, 1956 in Wichita to Jim and Sally Reeves. His parents survive.
Mr. Reeves worked as a physicians assistant for several years at the New York City Hospital in New York, N. Y.
In addition to his parents, he leaves a son, Aaron Schoenhofer of Wichita, a sister, Linda Baxter of Derby, and a fiancee, Emily Miksell of New York, N.Y.
Memorials to Hospice Inc. and/or the Marc A. Reeves scholarship at Wichita State University are suggested.


Sarah Larson

Sarah Louise Larson, 86, of Augusta died Dec. 4, 1996.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Christ Lutheran Church. Rev. William Childress will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Mausoleum.
Sarah Poorbaugh was born Dec. 21, 1909 to Herman P. and Eva P. (Felton) Poorbaugh in Butler County.
She marred Russell E. Larson. He preceded her in death in October 1995.
She owned Larsons Shoe Store for 24 years before she retired.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, DAR, Wichita Organaires, Round Table Club of Wichita and the Tabitha Society.
Survivors are brother-in-law, Ray Larson of Wichita and cousin, David Corbin of Towanda.
A memorial has been established with Christ Lutheran Church.
