Claude Mitchell

Claude William “Red” Mitchell, 75, of Augusta died Sunday, Feb. 23, 1997, at Walnut Valley Manor nursing home.
His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Jim Hatfield of Foursquare Gospel Church, El Dorado, will officiate. Burial will follow the service.
He was born May 21, 1921, to James W. and Emma (Stafford) Mitchell in Marion City, AR.
He served in the Navy Coast Guard during World War II and was a mold maker at Plastic Fab. Inc. until his retirement.
He married Vera I. Shoemaker. She preceded him in death in March 1995.
Survivors are sons, Gary Mitchell of El Dorado and Robert Shoemaker of Augusta; daughters Mary Seymour of Keystone, FL, and Wilena Barg of Augusta; son-in-law, Fred Seymour of Keystone, FL.; sister, Iva May Davis of Crane, MO.; grandchildren, Alan and Paula Barg, Keith and Wilena Tuschoff, Shannan and Misty Mitchell and greatgrandchildren, Robbie Romans and Drew Brant.

Geneva Reed

Geneva May Reed, 71, of Augusta died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997, at Via Christi-St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service was Monday, Feb. 17, at First Nazarene Church of Augusta with Rev. Tim Clark of Augusta and Rev. Steven Dezotell of Haysville officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta was in charge of the arrangements.
Geneva May Bums was born Feb. 16, 1925, to John and Leoria (Tatro) Bums in Augusta.
She married Floyd K. Reed and was a homemaker.
Survivors are husband, Floyd K. Reed Sr. of Augusta; sons, Floyd K. Reed, Jr. of Augusta and Stephen Reed of Joplin, Mo.; daughter, Carol D. Young of Augusta; brothers, Oliver Burns of Topeka and Clayton Bums of Medicine Lodge; sister, Geraldine Pippin of Augusta and five grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Nazarene Children’s Summer Camps. Contributions may be sent to Haysville Church of the Nazarene, 407 W. Grand, Haysville, KS. 67060.
