Duane E. Crowl

Duane E. Crowl, 65, of Augusta died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997, at Knutson Manor nursing home in El Dorado.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Duane Crowl was born March 28, 19332, in Scott City to Flavious and Edna Mae (Farmer) Crowl.
He married Donna Bell Sept. 17, 1966, in Golden, Colo.
He served in the U.S. Air Force June 12, 1952, until March 19, 1956. He worked as a steel bridge foreman for Santa Fe Railroad before his retirement.
Survivors are wife, Donna “Sam” Crowl of Augusta; sons, Flavious C. Crowl of Bremerton, Wash., and Patrick R. Crowl and Michael E. Crowl both of Topeka; sister, Marcia
Scharton of Brighton, Colo., and seven grandchildren.

Owen S. Ilsley

Owen S. Ilsley, 89, of
Augusta died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997, in Kansas Masonic Home in Wichita.
His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Hillside Funeral Home of
Augusta. Dr. Robert A. Box of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in
Elmwood Cemetery.
Owen Ilsley was born March 21, 1908, in Indianolo, Iowa, to Charles T. and Carrie B.
(Staddan) Ilsley.
He married Sara E. Ames Oct. 27, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minn. She preceded him in death.
He served in the Army Air Corps from Oct. 9, 1945, until Oct. 8, 1948.
He was a member of Mystic Tie 74 AF&AM, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 211, Royal Arch Masons 35, Council 20 Cryptic Masons and Knights Templar 19.
He is survived by son, Charles Ilsley of Augusta.
A memorial has been established with Kansas Masonic Home - S. Allan Daugherty Pavilion.

Valmar L. Martin

Memorial service for Valmar L. Martin of Placentia Calif., and formerly of Augusta were Saturday, Aug. 9, 1.997, at First Evangelical Free Church in Fullerton, Calif.
Valmar Martin grew up in Augusta. He graduated from Augusta High school in 1945 and from Kansas State University with an engineering degree.
He worked in the aerospace industry for many years retiring from Douglas Aircraft Company.
Survivors are wife, Marilyn (Malcolm) Martin of the home; children, Melinda Winship, Val Martin Jr., Lisa Smith, Harold Martin and Eileen Gross; nine grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Alzheimer’s Association. Gifts may be sent to 5014 E. Central, Wichita, KS. 67208. The Wichita chapter will
forward them to California.

Clee Ralston

Clee Ralston, 79, of rural Augusta died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997, at Columbia Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was a rancher and stock-man as well as a fourth generation Ralston to farm along the Four Mile Creek, southwest of Augusta.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Augusta First United Methodist Church, 2420 N. Ohio. Rev. Vern Bowers, pastor at the church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill cemetery.
Visitation will be possible at the church prior to the service beginning at 9 a.m.
Clee Ralston was born July 20, 1918, in Augusta to Ralph O. and Jennie (McClure) Ralston.
He married Sara Evelyn Lee Sept. 10, 1940, in Rose Hill. She survives.
He attended Kansas State University and was a lifelong member of the Augusta First United Methodist Church.
At the time of his death, Ralston was serving on the administrative board at the local Methodist church as well as a member of the Methodist Men fellowship.
Ralston was a longtime member of the Augusta Kiwanis Club and had served as that organization’s president. He was chairman of the club’s annual Farm-City observance.
He was also a Mason and a Shriner.
He served on the Augusta Board of Education at the time the present high school was built in 1970.
In addition to his wife, Sara, he leaves a son, Harold Ralston and wife Linda of Augusta; daughter, Peggy Johnson and husband John of Wichita; brother, Glen Ralston and of Augusta and four grandchildren, Bryant Clee Ralston and wife Tara, Patrick Ralston and wife Ashley, Jake and Molly Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the stained glass window fund of the Augusta First United Methodist Church.
The Cochran Mortuary of Wichita is in charge of arrangements.
