Vernon Gustafson
Vernon M. Gustafson, 88 of Sewell, N.J., and formerly of Augusta, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997 at Underwood Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, N.J.
Private services are pending with Harold E. Haines Funeral Home of Pitman, N.J.
Vernon M. Gustafson was born in McPherson, KS. He graduated from McPherson College in 1928
He worked for Mobil Research, retiring in 1971 after 28 years of service. He owned and operated Gustafson Hobby Shop in Augusta for eight years.
He was a former Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 9 in Augusta and a former Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 212 in Augusta.
He was past president of Corrosion Engineers of America and was a member of Elmer Presbyterian Church, Pitman Stamp Club, Nature Club, Coin Club and the National Audubon Society.
Survivors are wife, Lucille R. Gustafson of Pitman, N.J.; sons, Kermit M. Gustafson of Fresno, Calif., and Thurman E. Gustafson of Pitman, N.J.; daughter, Linnea L.G. Acton of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with American Lung Association of N.J., 1600 Rt. 22 East, Union, NJ. 07083.
