Lewis Roberts

Lewis T. Roberts, 78, of Augusta, died Tuesday, April 29, 1997, at Wesley Medical Center.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 2, at Douglass Christian Church with Rev. Cliff Muci officiating. Burial will follow the service at Richland Cemetery.
Lewis T. Roberts was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Mulvane to William T. and Marie (Mickel) Roberts.
He married Mary Smith Feb. 2, 1941, in Wichita.
He was a quality assurance manager at Beech Aircraft Corporation before his retirement.
Survivors are wife, Mary Roberts of Augusta; sons, Lewis W. Roberts and James C. Roberts both of San Leon, Texas, Michael L. Roberts of Everett, Wash., David E. Roberts of Douglass, Danny R. Roberts of LaPorte, Texas, and Robert L. Roberts of El Dorado; daughter, Linda (Roberts) Clark of Augusta; sister, Jean Roberts of Wichita; 23 grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Leukemia Society. Contributions may be sent to 555 N. Woodlawn, Wichita, KS. 67208.

Esther Watson

Esther “Mae” Watson, 86, of Augusta died Sunday, May 4, 1997.
She was a homemaker.
Mae was born March 16, 1911, in Andrew County, Mo.
Survivors are step-sons Ralph Watson and Jerry Watson, several step-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dunsford Funeral home was in charge of her cremation and arrangements.

Walter Fry
Walter “Carl” Fry, 91, of Coffeyville and formerly of Augusta died Monday, May 5, 1997.
His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 8, at Dunsford Chapel. Rev. Vern Bowers will officiated. Burial will be in Wichita Park Cemetery.
Carl Fry was born Jan. 29, 1906, in Teasdale to Frank Wesley and Josephine (Shannon) Fry.
He married Sudie Lucille Sawhill Nov 1, 1931, in Wichita. She preceded him in death Oct. 21,1994.
He was a chemical engineer at Mobil Oil Refinery and a member of Augusta United Methodist Church.
Survivors are son, Jack Fry of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Suzanne Churchman of Independence; brothers Lowell Fry of Augusta, Melton Fry of Hutchinson and Ralph Dean Fry of Winfield and granddaughter Michelle Churchman of Independence.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.

Leon Berner of Augusta received word Monday, May 5, 1997, that his sister, Alma (Berner) Tomlin, died in Garfield, Ark.

Weems-Taylor

Seriphina “Sally” Weems-Taylor, 78, of Augusta died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at Walnut Valley Manor
Recitation of the rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta Chapel. Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at St. James Catholic Church. Fr. James Mainzer will preside. Burial will follow the ceremony in Elmwood Cemeteiy.
Seriphina Engel was born July 9, 1918, in Munger to John and Rosa (Reidl) Engel. She was a homemaker.
Survivors are sons, Larry Weems of Ponca City, Okla., Dick Weems of Augusta and Ron Weems of Wichita; daughter, Judy Ogden of Wichita; sister Mary Heinrich of Oakley; 14 grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Walnut Valley Manor. Contributions may be sent to 2100 N. Ohio, Augusta, KS. 67010.
