Nellie Mae Elledge

Nellie Mae Elledge, 74, of Augusta died Sunday, Nov. 9, 1997, at Augusta Medical Complex Long Term Care.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Augusta Church of Christ, with Joe Slater officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery, Stamps, Ark.
Nellie Mae Watson was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Louisiana to William and Lucy (Jones) Watson.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors are sons, Kenneth Elledge of Andover and William, Elledge, Anthony Elledge and Joe Elledge all of Hope, Ark.; daughter, Joyce Robbins of Plano, Texas; brothers, Jacks Watson of Boerne,
Texas, Conway Watson of Buckner, Ark., and Marvin Watson of Big Spring, Texas; sister, Martiel Thomas of Buckner, Ark.; and five grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with Augusta Church of Christ and AMCI Long Term Care. Contributions may be sent through Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta.


Xyla L. Johnson

Xyla Lee Johnson, 65, of rural Larned and formerly of Augusta, died Friday, Nov. 7, 1997, in her home.
Visitation will be until 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at Morell Funeral Home, Larned, and from noon until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Kitch Funeral Home, Liberal.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the Kitch Funeral Chapel, Liberal with Ronald Thomke and Berlin Raymond presiding. Burial will follow in Arkalon Cemetery, rural Liberal.
Xyla Lee Norton was born Oct. 30, 1932, in Peck to Lee and Frances (McKnight) Norton, in Peck.
She married Carl V. Johnson March 12, 1955, in Wichita.
Formerly of Augusta, she moved to Lamed in 1992 from Liberal. She was an instructor in the education department at Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility, retiring in December 1995.
She was a member of Kansas Adult Education Association, the National and Kansas Laubach Literacy Action, Kansas Correctional Education Association, Kansas Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages and the Missouri Valley Adult Education Association.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Xyla Johnson Memorial Fund at Seward County Community College in care of Morell Funeral Home, P.O. Box 124, Larned, KS. 67550.
