Winnifred Adelson

Winnifred G. Adelson, 90, of Augusta, died Wednesday, Dec.
3, 1997, at Augusta Medical Complex Long Term Care Unit. 11.
A family graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, |e Dec. 6, at Swede Plaine Cemetery in Polk County, Neb.
Winnifred G. McClure was a born Feb. 9, 1907, in Goodland c to Harry and Harriette (Graham) McClure. She attended Fairmount Elementary School in Wichita and graduated from Morningside High School in Sioux City, Iowa. She attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and earned her bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University. She also pursued postgraduate work at Emporia State University.
She taught in a one room school house before marrying Orlie Adelson May 21, 1932.
The lived on his grandfathers Polk County homestead from 1932 until 1935 and then moved to nearby Clarks where he was a banker. They moved to Kansas in 1942, living in Augusta for three years before moving to Wichita in 1955.
Orlie died in 1970.
Winnifred taught at Leon and Andover high schools before entering the Wichita school system where she taught at Clark, Fairmount and Griffith elementary schools. She was a teacher for 25 years and after her retirement tutored students.
She was a member of First Methodist Church, Pi Beta Phi, Order of the Eastern Star, Wichita Teachers’ Association, National Education Association and Kappa Kappa Iota.
Survivors are sons, Richard Adelson of Andover and Roger Adelson of Tempe, Ariz.; half-brother, Edward Moore of Oakland, Calif.; grandsons, Michael Adelson, Stephen Adelson and Jeffrey Adelson all of Andover and great-grandchildren, Amanda, Nicholas, Ryan, Logan and Cameron Adelson also of Andover.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orlie Adelson, and son, Donald Adelson on Oct. 4, 1991.

Le Roy C. Randal

Le Roy Carson Randall, 79, of Augusta, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, at his home. His funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at First Baptist Church in Augusta. Rev. Robert Box will officiate. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
He was a retired farmer, stockman and Beechcraft employee.
Randall was born Dec. 31, 1917 in Rose Hill to Cora (Metzger) and Clovesta Randall.
He married Audrey Denver Jan. 1, 1938 in El Dorado.
He is survived by daughters Beverly Ann Wilson, Princeton, Ind., Brenda Jane Ludlam of Raleigh, N.C. and Patricia K. Garvin of Ottawa. A brother, Clayton Randall of Hutchinson and five grandchildren also survive.
Memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church Building Fund.

"Bill" Toothman Jr.

William Edward “Bill” Toothman Jr., 62, Elizabethtown, Ky., brother of James Toothman and Betty Conners of Augusta, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
His funeral service was today at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home, Radcliff, Ky. Burial was in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
He was a retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant with 21 years
of service and served in Vietnam. He was a member of Military Order of Purple Heart and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3892 in Harker Heights, Texas. He was an Honorary Captain of the Belle of Louisville and a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marjorie Ruth Toothman and William Edward Toothman, Sr. and his mother-in-law Dorthea Battistoli.
Survivors include former spouse, Linda Toothman of Radcliff, Ky.; four daughters, Theresa “Nicky” Clark, Elizabethtown, Ky.; Holly Toothman, Radcliff, Ky.; Rebecca “Becky” Howard, Guston, Ky. Two brothers survive; James of Augusta and Charles of Junction City and two sisters; Betty Conners of Augusta and Ann Gannaw of Federal Way, Wash.
Three grandsons and three granddaughters also survive.
Memorial has been established with the American Kidney Foundation.
