Lewis Meader
Lewis Edwin Meader, 75, 341 High, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Burl Allison Jr. will officiate.
He was born March 22, 1907 in Beatrice, Neb., to Lewis E. and Edith Funk Meader.
He married Bertha Margaret Southard Jan. 11, 1926 in Iola. She survives.
He was a retired Beech Aircraft Co. employee and also owned an upholstery shop.
Other survivors include daughters, Melvine Wentling of Branson, Mo., and Edith B. Nauman of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
H. Chester Dies At AMCI
Herbert Burnett Chester, 95, Augusta, died yesterday at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His service will be at 1 p.m. at the Old Mission Mortuary in Wichita. Burial will be in the Old Mission Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the College Hill United Methodist Church, 2930 E. First, Wichita.
He was born Sept. 26, 1887 in Kansas to James M. and Nancy Pearl Plater.
He married Ada Kelso. She survives.
He was a retired floor manager at the former George Innes Co. in Wichita.
He was a member of Albert Pike Lodge 303 in Wichita.
Survivors also include a son, Herbert Chester of Wichita; a daughter, Donna Travis of Augusta; a sister, Carrie Mae Manley of Augusta; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Kilgore Dies At St. Francis
Dorothy Yvonne Kilgore, 308 Gregg, died Thursday at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
Services are pending at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Amos Williams will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born May 7, 1937 in Norwich to Leonard F. and Veeta Brumley Brooks.
She married Paul Dean Kilgore Nov. 30, 1955 in Augusta. He survives.
She was a waitress at the Homestead Restaurant. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Other survivors include her daughter, Paula Kilgore of the home; her mother, Veeta Brooks Stacy of Berryville, Ark.; brothers, Audie Ray Brooks of Beaver, Okla., James Meredith Brooks of Phoenix, Ariz., and Kenneth Duane Brooks of Beaver, Okla., and sisters, Betty Jo Gustin of Lansdale, Pa., and Sharon Lee Brewer of Garden City.
Brother Dies In Emporia
Stanton Garrett, 73, Madison, brother of Russell Garrett of Augusta, died yesterday at Newman Hospital in Emporia.
His service will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the First Christian Church in Madison. Rev. Bob Robison will officiate and burial will be at the Blakely Cemetery near Madison.
A memorial has been established with the First Church Church in care of the Wilson Funeral Home in Madison.
He was born Oct. 8, 1909 in Iola to John Oliver and Hattie Hurlock Garrett.
He married Maxine Davis July 16, 1933 in Burlington. She survives.
He was the owner-operator of Economy Food Store in Madison from 1943 to 1969. In April of 1970 to his retirement last year, he was partsman for Brinkman Cheverolet there.
Other survivors include a son, Donald Garrett of Spring, Texas; a daughter of Dixie Lee Cassity of Corsicana, Texas; two sisters, Josephine Gifford of Osceola, Mo., and Dorothy Smith of Emporia; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Kilgore Rites Held Today
Services for Dorothy Yvonne Kilgore, 45, 308 Gregg, were 11 a.m. today at the Dunsford Funeral Home.
Rev. Amos Williams officiated and burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Verna Ashland, Former Resident
Verna Ashland, 84, a long time resident of Augusta, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, in Lawrence.
Her funeral service was Thursday, Jan. 13, at the Rumsey Funeral Home in Lawrence. Cremation followed and burial was in the Old Mission Mausoleum at Wichita.
She was born Feb. 28, 1898 in Guthrie, Okla., and lived most of her life in Augusta. She had lived in Lawrence since 1975.
She was married to Jack Ashland who preceded her in death in 1968.
Survivors include a daughter, Verna Adams of Lawrence, two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
