Former Augustan Died Saturday
Lawrence E. Kennedy, 80, Winfield, brother of Lula Singer of Augusta, died Saturday at his home.
His service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Miles Memorial Chapel in Winfield. Rev. Vern Livengood will officiate and burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in Winfield.
A memorial has been established with the Cowley County Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of the Miles Memorial Chapel, Box 720, Winfield, Kan., 67152.
He was born March 12, 1902 in Prairie View to George and Cora Keely Kennedy.
He married Alma Nachbor June 18, 1924 in El Dorado. She survives.
He was a field foreman for Texaco before his retirement. He had lived in rural Augusta 16 years before being transferred to Winfield.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 74 in Augusta and the Winfield Elk Lodge.
Other survivors include a son, Lawrence Kennedy Jr., of Houston, Texas; daughter, Rosemary Gottschalk of Hutchinson; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Former Augustan Dies In El Dorado
Chester A. “Chet” Myers, 84,
El Dorado, formerly of Augusta, died Monday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado, Rev. Don Swender will officiate and burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park in ElDorado.
He was born June 15, 1898 near the Bloomington community to Charles and Maude Williams Myers.
He married Emily Gunther in 1980 in Leon. She survives.
The retired drilling contractor was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Augusta; the Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge and a life member of the Augusta Elks Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Myers of Many, La., and two brothers, Verne Myers of El Dorado and DeLoss Myers of Leon.

Former Augustan Dies In Wichita
Charlene E. Young, 56, Wichita, formerly of Augusta, died Monday.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Pilgrim Congregational Church.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
She was born Aug. 14, 1927 in St. Joseph, Mo.
She lived in Augusta for a time and graduated from Augusta High School.
She was a real estate salesperson.
Survivors include her husband, John W. Young of the home; sons, Brad Young of Wichita, Staff Sgt. Robert A. Young of Lawton, Okla., and her mother, Lillian E. Goodell.

Mary Spivey Dies At 92
Mary M. Spivey, 92, Leon, died Monday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
Her service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Leon United Methodist Church. Rev. Jack Williams and Rev. Keith Dudeck will officiate and burial will be at the Quito Cemetery in Leon.
She was born Nov. 25, 1890 in Bogard, Mo., to Jess and Mattie Griggs Easley.
She married Oscar M. Spivey July 17, 1907 in El Dorado. He died March 4, 1963.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Leon.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Spivey of El Dorado, Max Spivey of Towanda and Kenneth Spivey of Leon; four daughters, Ethel Davis of Howard, Jessie Kingsley of Leon, Vena Dudeck of Atlanta and Faye Dutton of Toronto; a brother, Chris Easley of Newton; a sister, Lois Young of Wichita; 33 grandchildren and 77 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren.
Carlson Funeral Home of El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.
