Ralph Brooks Dies At 82
Ralph Brooks, 82, Wellington, brother of Effie Keely of Douglass, died Wednesday, Feb. 2.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Douglass Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
Other survivors include his wife, Annabel Brooks of the home; daughter, Betty Appling of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brother, Ted Brooks of Green River, Wyo., and sisters, Lulu Totten of Oxford and Maude Stout of Udall.

Ada Fitzwater Dies At 77
Ada Bell Fitzwater, 77, 1234 School, died Saturday, Feb. 5, at her home.
Her service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Marvin Durham to officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 2, 1905 in Baulch, Ark., to John D. and Jennie Roland Cooper.
She married Steven Brinton Scott March 30, 1924 in Judsonia, Ark. He preceded her in death in 1966. She married James Emmett Fitzwater May 16, 1969 in El Dorado. He preceded her in death in 1974.
She was a member of the Lakecrest Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, A.W. Scott and LeRoy Scott, both of Augusta, and Warren Scott of Wichita; daughters, Beulah Jones of Augusta and Ruby Durham of Rose Hill; brothers, Manuel Cooper of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Lindsey Cooper of Bald Knob, Ark., John Cooper and Jim Cooper, both of Judsonia, Ark., Shelby Cooper of Pheasant Plains, Ark., Bill Cooper of Cabot, Ark.; sisters, Mary Jane Leonard of Judsonia and Sebel Salmons of Primm, Ark.; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

R.E. Canfield Dies At 58
Robert Eugene Canfield, 58, Wichita, brother of Merle Can-field of Augusta, died Sunday, Feb. 6, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m Wednesday at the Unity Church of Wichita, 2160 Oliver.
He was born Oct. 3, 1924 in Augusta to Ernest and Jessie Richey Canfield.
He married Sandy Woodward April 15, 1948 in St. Louis, Mo. She survives.
He was a salesman for Forbes Advertising Agency in Wichita.
Other survivors include two sons, Craig Canfield of Denver, Colo., and Clark Canfield of Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter, Kerry Graham of Wichita, and two grandchildren, Christy Canfield and Austin Graham.

Private Rites For Canfield
Memorial services for Robert Eugene Canfield will be private, according to Dick Dunsford of the Dunsford Funeral Home.
Canfield died Sunday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Among the survivors is a brother, Merle Canfield of Augusta.

Two-Year-Old Died Wednesday
Page Lea Jackson, Manhattan, great-granddaughter of Iva Lanier of Douglass, died Wednesday at a Manhattan hospital.
Her service will be at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Congregational Church in Udall. Rev. Robert W. Janek will officiate and burial will be in the Udall Cemetery.
Other survivors include her parents, Elliott W. and Crystal Lea Jackson of Manhattan.

Ex-Augustan Died Today
Maude DeWitt, Salina, formerly of Augusta, died this morning at St. John’s Hospital in Salina.
Services are pending with the Rush-Smith Funeral Home in Salina.

Helen Gray Dies At 66
Helen Gray, 66, Leon, died Sunday at her home.
Her service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Carlson Funeral Home. Rev. Burl Allison and Rev. Jack Williams will officiate and burial will be in the Blankinship Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
She was born Dec. 13, 1916 in Leon to Arthur and Grace Etnire Dill.
She married Lloyd H. Gray Dec. 30, 1933 in Wellington. He survives.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Rosalia United Methodist Church.
Other survivors include a son, Lyle H. Gray of Leon; a daughter, Judy Cope of Rosalia; two brothers, Wayne Dill of LaVerne, Calif., and Lyle Dill of El Dorado; two sisters, Isabelle Litton of El Dorado and Lois Seward, of Leon; seven grandchildren, Mark, Larry, Kendall and Julie Gray, and Clint, Jeff and Tammy Cope. There are four great-grandchildren.
