Bessie Waples Dies At Douglass
Bessie M. Waples, 91, Douglass, died Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Colonial Manor nursing home in Douglass.
Her service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Rose Hill United Methodist Church. Rev. John Martin and Rev. Paul Johnson will official and burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Rose Hill United Methodist Church.
She was born March 17, 1891 in Rose Hill to Elias and Rebecca Noy Mitchell.
She married Fred R. Waples Sept. 10, 1910 in Rose Hill. He preceded her in death in 1973.
She was a member of the Rose Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include sons, Audrey Waples of Fresno, Calif., Edron Waples of El Toro, Calif., Joe Waples of Pueblo, Colo., Quentin Waples of Douglass; a daughter, Inez Detweiler of Denver, Colo.; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Father Dies At Independence
Glenn R. Bussert, 71, Independence, father of Dixie Buss of Augusta, died Sunday at a hospital there.
His service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Cherryvale United Methodist Church. Rev. Wayne Feuerbacher will officiate. Masonic graveside services will be at the Fairview Cemetery at Cerryvale.
A memorial has been established the American Cancer Society or the Cherryvale United Methodist Church.
He was born July 26, 1911 in rural Cherryvale to John and Myrtle Ritchie Bussert.
He married Gertrude Hieronymus. She survives.
He was a farmer, stockman, and for 12 years he was a Montgomery County real estate appraiser.
Other survivors include a brother, Roy Bussert of Cherryvale; three sisters, Ruby Houx of Independence, Effie Alexander of Cherryvale, and Esther Hugo of Parsons, and a granddaughter.

Father Dies In Douglass
Arley Gann, 63, El Dorado, father of Jan Link of Augusta, died yesterday at the Colonial Manor nursing home in Douglass.
His service will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado. Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park there.
He was born March 13, 1919 in Conway, Mo., to Elbert and Callie Evans Gann.
He married Launa Ball Jan. 25, 1941. She preceded him in death Aug. 3, 1972.
He was a retired employee of Cities Service Oil Co.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Other survivors include a son, Ron Gann of El Dorado; his mother, Callie Gann of El Dorado; four brothers and three sisters and three grandsons. ______ _______
DeWitt Dies In Salina
Maude DeWitt, 75, a former resident of Augusta, died Monday, Feb. 14, at St. John’s Hospital in Salina.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Geisendorf Rush Smith Funeral Home in Salina.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Horton, Kan., cemetery.
DeWitt was born July 2, 1907, in Towanda, the daughter of William and Mary Gray.
She married Dr. Frank DeWitt, a Wichita and Augusta dentist, July 3, 1941. They moved to Augusta in 1952. DeWitt assisted her husband with his dental practice until his death in 1981 when she moved to Salina.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Lester McMillan, Salina and Mrs. Marie McMillan of Clearwater.
Memorials have been established with the First United Methodist Church of Salina and Hospice of Salina.She was a member of the Eastern Star, United Methodist Women and the First United Methodist Church in Salina.

M.A. Sifford Dies At 57
Marion Andrew Sifford, 57, Route 3, died today at his home.
His service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Dunsford Funeral Home. Rev. Burl Allison Jr., will officiate. Masonic graveside services will be at the Sunset Lawn Cemetery in El Dorado.
He was born April 22,1925 in Rush, Colo., to William and Sarah Baxter Sifford.
He married Lenna Malcom Hoyle April 23, 1964 in Miami, Okla. She survives.
He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., and was a member of the Wichita Trinity Blue Lodge and Midian Shrine and the Scottish Rite.
Other survivors include sons, William Sifford of Augusta and Richard Sifford of Wichita; a stepson, Jim Hoyle of Augusta; daughters, Elizabeth Jones of Andover and Kathleen Stur of Chicago, Ill.; brothers, William Sifford of Mollusk, Va.; sisters, Mary Richardson of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Mamie Routhier of Wichita; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
