Martin Detmer

Martin Detmer, 73, of Augusta died today, Oct. 20, 1999.
A mass of Christian burial will celebrated be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at St. James. Father Samuel Pinkerton will be the celebrant. Burial will be at Willowdale Cemetery in Willow-dale.
He was born Nov. 12,1925 in Waterloo to August and Anna Mary Detmer.
He married Therese Petz on April 29, 1967 she survives.
He was a retired farmer, a member of Knights of Columbus and a former Grand Knight. He had lived in Kingman, Hutchinson,Wichita, and Pratt.
He is survived by his wife Therese; brothers Andrew and Lawrence, both of Ellinwood, Leo of Lyons and John of Great Bend; sisters Agnes Urban of Wichita, Christine Miller of Willowdale, Rita Goertz of Willowdale, Isadore Fischer of Pratt and MaryLou Osner of Cunningham.
Memorials may be sent to the St. James building fund or Hospice Inc.

James Lansdowne

James Douglas Lansdowne, 88, of Wichita, died Tuesday Oct. 19, at Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral was today, Oct. 22 at the Lamb-Nutter Mortuary in Whitewater. Burial will be at Green Valley Cemetery in Furley.
He was born Nov. 13, 1910 in Wichita, the son of Marsden and Minnie Lansdowne.
He graduated from Friends University in 1934 and founded Lansdowne Plumbing. He was a plumber for 40 years.
He was married to Velma I. Mauck on Aug. 8, 1936. She preceded him in death in 1994.
He was a member and past president of the Wichita East Kiwanis Club, a former member of the
YMCA East and a member of Great Plains Woodcarvers.
He is survived by sons Alden of Wichita and Rodney of Valley Center, sisters Lucille Eisloffel of Belleville, Ill. and Brittie Jean Taliaferro of Matfield Green, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Florence Deichman

Florence A. Deichman, 93, of Winfield, mother of Olen F. Deichman of Augustam, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29 at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will be at Wilmont Cemetery in Winfield.
She was born Aug. 15, 1906 in Atlanta the daughter of Christian H. and Alma Wadsack Peterson.
She grew up and graduated from Atlanta High School.
She married Homer F. Deichman in Winfield on July 8, 1925. They lived and farmed near Atlanta for more than 45 years, moving to Winfield in 1972. He preceded her in death in 1984.
She was a member of the Atlanta United Methodist Church where she was a superintendent for many years.
She is survived by sons Loren K. Deichman and his wife Alvine of Mercedes, Texas, Olen F. Deichman and his wife Juanita of Augusta; three grandchildren, Linda Deichman-McAffe, Ron Deichman, Onita Deichman-Altman, 10 greatgrandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Deichman was preceded in death by her husband and sister Leona Peterson and one great-grandchild.
A memorial has been established in with the Atlanta United Methodist Church.

Kathleen VanBuren
Kathleen Michelle VanBuren, 40, of Burlington died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999.
Interment will be held later in Kingman.
She is survived by, father William Day of Maryland, stepfather Jed Closson, of Wichita, brother Eric Grown of Richmond, Texas, grandfather Kenneth Long of Augusta.
Arrangements are being made by Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
