Karen Crumbliss

Karen S. Crumbliss, 54, 3114 Countrylane, Augusta, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at her home.
Her funeral will be 11 a.m, Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the Healing Center Church of God in Chanute, with Rev. Charles Crissey officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m., tonight at the Gibson-Koch-Friskel Chapel.
She was born Jan. 8, 1946, at Quincy, Ill., to Fred L. and Mary F. Sapp Welch. She moved to Chanute at the age of two and was graduated from Chanute High School with the Class of 1964.
She was married to John E. Crumbliss, March 13, 1971, at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. He survives.
Following her marriage, she was graduated from Beauty College in St. Joseph, Mo. Since her husband was in military service, she moved with him to various assignments, including three years in Hawaii and another three in Virginia, before returning to Chanute in 1982. She moved with her family to Augusta in 1985 where Mrs. Crumbliss was a homemaker.
In addition to her husband of the home, she leaves three daughters: Gina Fleming, of the home, Melanie Rosa, Ft. Riley, and Jami Crumbliss, Duncan, Ok., and one son, John Edward Crumbliss of the home; a brother, Larry Roberts, Chanute; two sisters, Elaine Kauffman, Chanute, and Judy Stephenson, Andover.
Memorials to Wichita Hospice or the American Cancer Society have been suggested.
Gibson-Koch-Friskel Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond Ponder

Carl Raymond Ponder, 85, Augusta, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at the Augusta Medical Complex.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at St. James Catholic Church with Father Samuel Pinkerton officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan, 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, rural Augusta.
He was born July 4, 1914, in Salisbury, Mo., the son of Frank and Pauline Kressig Ponder.
He was married to Elizabeth Romer. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Ponder was a pipefitter, retired after 39 years with Mobil Oil refinery.
Mr. Ponder was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by a son Bruce Ponder of Bloomington, Ill., and a daughter, Victoria Stephens of El Dorado, and two grandchildren.
The St. James Catholic Church Building Fund has been suggested as a Memorial.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Treva Turnquist

Treva Maude Turnquist, 99, Augusta, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, in Augusta.
Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Augusta First United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Dudeck officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation is 1 to 8 p.m. Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta.
She was born July 22, 1900, at Lyons as the daughter of William E. and Mary A. Sampson Bowerman.
On Nov. 1, 1920, she was married to Helmer L. Turnquist in Milaca, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1990.
She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son Richard in 1996; three brothers, Lesley, Carl, and Harry Bower-man; and by four sisters, Lela, Addie, Hazel, and Sadie.
She is survived by her daughter Joyce Knapp, Augusta; five grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren.
Augusta United Methodist Church Mission Table or The Augusta Medical Complex Auxiliary have been named as Memorials.
