Janice Mendenhall

Janice Joann Mendenhall, 48, Augusta, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Lakecrest Bible Baptist Church.
Rev. Harvey Coberly will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemtery.
She was born June 16, 1951 in El Dorado.
She leaves her father, Lester Walker of Wichita; mother,
Anna Genter of Augusta; son, Don Mendenhall of Hutchinson; daughters, Tonya Hicks of Bartlesville, Okla., Angela Crow of Hutchinson; brothers, William Walker of Wichita,
Leslie Walker of El Dorado, Michael Walker of Newton,
Gary Walker of Bedford Heights, Ohio, Charles Genter Jr. of Leon; sisters Linda McHone of Mulvane, Cindy Johnson of Rose Hill, Leanna Ehler of Augusta, and four grandchildren.
Memorials to Hospice Inc. have been suggested.
The Hillside Funeral Home Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Bertha Meader

Homemaker Bertha M. Meader, 93, Augusta, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 at Augusta Medical Complex.
Her funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Elmwood Cemetery.
There will be visitation until 8 p.m. tonight at the Hillside Funeral Home Augusta, 117 W. Sixth.
She was born Sept. 24, 1906 in Iola as the daughter of Pearl Jasper Southard and Ethel M. Howard Southard.
Mrs. Meader leaves daughters, Edie Nauman of Augusta and Melvine Wentling of Clay Center; brother, Francis Southard of Gas City; sisters, Hattie Grieves of Monrovia, Calif., and Grace Wood of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Jeff Nauman of Lander, Wyo., Craig Wentling of Milford, Janette Birmingham of Kuwait, and Kirk Wentling of Germany; 10 grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
Memorials to the Lakepoint Nursing Center and Cottonwood Point have been suggested.
The Hillside Funeral Home Augusta has charge of arrangements.

Lawrence Cody

Lawrence D. Cody, 58, Augusta, died Monday, May 8, 2000.
His graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Elmwood Cemetery.
This retired oilfield drilling supervisor leaves a son, Russ Cody of Augusta; daughters Kim Whistler of Utah, Carla Cody of Augusta; brothers, Acy Bill Cody of Wellington, and Irvin Cody of Augusta, and three grandchildren.
He was the son of Acy Bill Cody and Ethel Fern Wheeler Cody.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Short

Kenneth Short, 82, Augusta, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000.
His funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at the Dunsford Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Friesen officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be possible between 1 and 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13.
He was born July 5, 1917 at Emporia as the son of Fred Short and Maggie Murphy Short.
He married Lela Daharsh on May 18, 1946. She survives.
Mr. Short was a farmer and member of the Butler County Farm Rural Board, the ASCS Board, and Cumberland Community Church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Jim Short of Augusta; a daughter, Jo Dinkins of Olathe; brothers, Bill Short of Strong City, Morris Short of Derby, and Richard Short of Paxico; sister, Helen Strome of Seal Beach, Calif.; and grandchildren, Clint Short of Augusta, Sarah Short of Benton.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton, and one grandson.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Stuart

Dorothy Mae Stuart, 79, Park City, died Feb. 20, 2000. She formerly lived in Augusta.
A private family wake was held.
She had worked as a children’s book buyer.
Mrs. Stuart leaves sons Michael of Tulsa, Okla., Stuart of Valley Center, and Brian of Wichita; daughters, Dee Stuart of Park City, and Beth Stuart of Belaire; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Hillside Funeral Home East, Wichita, was in charge of arrangements.

Helen Augspurger

Helen E. Augspurger, 83, Augusta, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000.
There will be no local service.
This homemaker leaves a son, Charles Bailey of Middle-ton, Ohio; a daughter, Karen Knaak of Augusta; six grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorials to the Augusta Senior Citizens Friendship Center at 640 Osage have been suggested.
The Hillside Funeral Home Augusta was in charge of arrangements.
