Rachel E. Ray
Rachel Elizabeth Ray, 61, Augusta, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at the Via Christi St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday,
Feb. 15, at the Hillside Funeral Home Augusta, 117 W. Sixth.
Rev. Vern Bowers of First United Methodist Mrs. RAY Church will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was a homemaker and a retired Wal-Mart department manager.
She was born Sept. 27, 1938 in Colony, Kan., as the daughter of Floyd Coe and Minnie Tefft Coe.
On May 30, 1957, she and Edward N. Ray were united in marriage at Tacoma, Wash.
Mrs. Ray leaves her husband, Edward; sons, Ernest Ray of Winfield, Eddie Ray of Burlington, and Floyd Ray of Nashville, Tenn.; daughters, Angela Cun-dell of Augusta of Augusta, and Tina Ray of Arkansas City; brothers, Leonard Coe of Loveland, Colo., Edward Coe of Huntington, Ark,m and David Coe of Topeka; mother, Nettie Coe of Topeka; 17 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Memorials to Sumner County Hospital and the Sumner County Home Health have been suggested.

Betty Kennedy
Betty Kathryn Kennedy, 70, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, in her home in Augusta.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m, Saturday, Feb. 19, at St. James Catholic Church with Father Lisle Pottorff officiating. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18 at St. James. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Augusta.
She was born March 18, 1929, in Denver, Colo., as the daughter of William F. Kreutter and Dorothy A. Friedricks Kreutter.
On March 8, 1954, she was married to Delbert Kennedy in Amarillo, Texas. He survives.
Mrs. Kennedy attended the University of Denver where she majored in Chemistry and Lab Research, but she remained a homemaker to rear her three daughters. She travelled abroad with her husband in the Air Force, and studied oil painting under Mr. DeVit in the Philippines. Returning to the States she went
back to work at St. Joseph Hospital, Wichita, and became a medical transcription-ist for ten years before she retired.
In 1989 the couple relocated to Augusta to build their home, but in 1992 she came down with Alzheimer’s disease. She spent the next eight years under her husband’s care.
Mrs. Kennedy was involved in Catholic education, volunteering her time working in the school library at Sacred Heart when the family lived in Florida.
Aside from her husband, she is survived by daughters Dorothy Milliken, Edmond, Okla., Patricia Kennedy of Wichita, and Mary Karst of Newton; one brother, William Kreutter of Denver, Colo.,and four grandchildren.
Memorials have been suggested for either SCCS Home Health & Hospice, 1410 N. Woodlawn, Suite D, Derby,
Kan., 67037, or the National Federation of the Blind, 3250 S. Kessler, Wichita, 67217.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.
Viola Binder
Homemaker Viola Faye Binder, 87, Augusta, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2000.
Her funeral service will take place 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2, at the First Southern Baptist Church. Rev. Frank Mackey will officiate and burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery of rural Augusta.
She was born April 7, 1912 in Augusta as the daughter of Mike Winters and Clara Beaver Winters.
She married Walter M. Binder Aug. 26, 1933.
She leaves a sister, Ida Mae McBee, eight nephews, seven nieces, anbd many great nephews and nieces.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Grace Crosby Davis, 80, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000 at the Lakepoint Nursing Center.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel at
Seminole, Okla., with Rev. Norm Mosier of Towanda officiating. Burial will be in the Little Cemetery there. Mrs. Davis was a longtime resident of Towanda.
She leaves sons Robert Davis of Augusta, Oren Davis of Cache, Okla.; sister, Ann Vonlandingham of Seminole, Okla.; brother, Gene Crosby of Boise, Idaho; five grandsons, and four great grandchildren. |
