Dent E. Worrell

Dent E. Worrell, 46, Leon, auctioneer and Worrell Real Estate owner, died unexpectedly Friday, May 11,2001, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Leon United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Leon Cemetery.
Mr. Worrell was bom Sept. 6, 1954 at El Dorado, the son of George and Virginia Boley Worrell, Sr He lived in the Leon area for most of his life and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in vocational agriculture. He taught at Norton for two years. He was a realtor and auctioneer with Worrell Real Estate and Auction Ser-vice.
He was a member of the Leon United Methodist Church, Kansas Auctioneer Association, Kansas Realtors Associations, and National Auctioneers Association.
On Jan. 5, 1975, he was united in marriage to Kathy Shaffer of Leon.
Mr. Worrell is survived by his wife, Kathy; sons, Dustin , Nathan both of the home, father and step-mother, George, Sr. and Violet Worrell of Leon; brothers, George, Jr., John, both of Leon,
Steve of Wichita, David of Andover; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia.
Memorials in his memory have been established with Leon First Responders or Bluestem High School Wrestling Program. Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.

Thelma W. Winzer

Thelma Winifred (Baughman) Winzer, 84, Augusta, homemaker and mother, died Thursday, May 10, 2001.
Her service was held at 11 a.m. today, Monday, May 14, at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
As a child, Mrs. Winzer went to Rock Vale Grade School in rural Latham and graduated from Leon High School. She married Harold Wayne Winzer on September 20, 1935 in El Dorado.
During her lifetime, Mrs. Winzer enjoyed her garden, tatting and spending time with greatgrandchildren.
She belonged to the Augusta Garden Club, Augusta Roundtable Club, and was a member of the Gordon and Hickory EHU Club for over 50 years. She also served as a leader for the Gordon and Hickory 4-H clubs.
She was preceded in death by husband, Harold, her parents and a sister, Jacquie Schmidt.
Mrs. Winzer is survived by son and wife, Richard and Linda Winzer of Augusta; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Gerald Snyder, grandchildren and spouses, Ken and Susan Snyder, Wayne and Armida Winzer, Cynthia Snyder, Heath Press- nell; great-
grandchildren, Aerian and Bridgette Winzer.
A memorial has been established with the Augusta Public Library for Genealogy Depart ment.


Mary G. Cartwright

Mary Gwendolyn “Gwen” Cartwright, 81, Wichita, homemaker and retired school teacher, formerly of Augusta, died Thursday, May 10, 2001.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. this evening, Monday, May 14, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. Her service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Andover. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka.
Mrs. Cartwright is survived by husband, Harold; son, H.D. of Independence; daughters, Mary Lynn Stevenson of Fort Scott, Cathy Pechin of Derby, Roxanne Cartwright of Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Inabelle “Pete” Thompson of Independence; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren
A memorial has been established with Alzheimer’s Association , Sunflower Chapter of Wichita. Downing & Lahey Mortuary East is in charge of arrangements.

Leo H. Diver

Leo H. “Dick” Diver, 96, Yates Center, former Woodson County road and bridge department mechanic and machinist, and father of John Diver of Augusta, died Thursday, May 10, 2001.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. today, Monday, May 14, at Yates Center Cemetery.
Mr. Diver is survived by sons, Elmer of Coffeyville, John of Augusta, Eldon of Towanda; sister, Clara Ferree of Yates Center; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-
grandchildren. A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
