James J. Pohl
James J. Pohl, 78, Augusta, retired road construction superintendent, died Sunday, July 1, 2001.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening, July 5; service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, both at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
Mr. Pohl is survived by sons, Johnnie of Wichita, Dan of Moundridge; daughter, Clovia Burgardt of Augusta; brother, Harold Pohl of Stockton, Mo.; sisters, Mary Tatro, Jeanette Kinney both of Pratt, Dorothy Presse of Montrose, Colo., Jenny Bundy of Wichita, Angie Lyons of Hayward, Calif.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Butler County EMS. Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.
Carl Iseman
Carl L. “Cobb” Iseman, 48, Kittanning, Pa., R&P Coal Co. coal miner, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Mr. Iseman is survived by wife, Amber McHone Iseman; brothers, Alvin, James, Barry, Roger, Paul all of Ford City, Pa., Harold of McGrann, Pa., Ronald, Cecil both of Florida, Edward of Kittanning, David of Linesville, Pa.; sister, Carol Magnus of Ford City, Pa.; par-ents-in-law Debbie and Stan McHone of Augusta, and brother-in-law, Brian McHone of Wichita; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, James and Beatrice Iseman and brother, Gary.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of service.
Marguerite Godfrey
Marguerite Godfrey, 87, of Topeka, formerly of Wichita, homemaker, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001.
She was born on December 19, 1913 in rural Augusta to Clifford and Annetta (Doub) Skaer.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 7, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Mrs. Godfrey is survived by son, Cliff of Aurora, Colo.; daughter, Margaret Cherry of Topeka; three grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with East Heights United Methodist Church in Wichita. Downing and Lahey Mortuary, East in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.
Berlie R. Maggard
Berlie R. Maggard, 87, of Augusta, retired Mobil Oil Refinery employee, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
Mr. Maggard is survived by sons, John of Augusta, Michael of Wichita; daughters, Bonnie Brown of Arkansas City, Janice Bonds of Beaumont, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with the American Heart Association and First Baptist Church of Augusta.
Pauline Sawtelle
Pauline Naomi Sawtelle, 87, Augusta, homemaker, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Dunsford Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the First United Methodist Church in Augusta followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Sawtelle was born May 29, 1914, in Sentinel, Okla., to John Franklin Banks and Maude Louise Latham.
She married Douglas Sawtelle on Aug. 4, 1934 in Hobart, Okla.
Mrs. Sawtelle was preceded in death by husband, Douglas, on Aug. 1, 1969; her parents; brothers, Walter Banks, Kenneth Banks and great-granddaughter Emma Brooke Rockers.
She leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Barbara Sawtelle of Augusta; daughters and son-in-law, Jackie and Walter Sharp of Augusta, Debbie Sawtelle of Towanda; grandchildren; Doug and Sharon Sharp of Seattle, Sherry and Randy Currie of Douglass, Craig and Deborah Sharp of Augusta, Michelle Sawtelle of Topeka, Denise and Greg Rockers of Augusta, Stephanie Sawtelle of Topeka; great-grandchildren, Kristen, Kelley, and Joe Currie, Madison, Natalie and Katie Rockers, Chase Sharp.
A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church, 2420 Ohio, Augusta 67010.
