Elva V. Chalfant, 88, Augusta, homemaker, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Sunset Lawns Cemetery, El Dorado.
Survivors include: daughter, Sue Riley of Alamo, Texas; seven grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren.
Memorial established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
Carlson Funeral Home of El Dorado is in charge of arrangements.

Mary B. McCracken

Mary B. (Clanton) McCracken, 76, Augusta, retired from City of Augusta utilities office and mother of Lee McCracken of Augusta, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002.
Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Christ Lutheran Church of Augusta.
Visitation is possible until 8 o’clock this evening at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta, 201 E. Fifth.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-laws, Wayne and Jane McCracken of Yukon, Okla., Steve and Cheryl McCracken of Tuttle, Okla; brothers, Danny Joe Clanton
of Arlington, Texas, Jackie Clanton of Arlington, Texas, Dean Clanton of Moore, Okla.; sister, Becky Harmon of Chickasha, Okla.; sisters-in-law, Darlene Anderson of Lawton, Okla., Twila Jones of Prescott, Ariz.; grandchildren, Megan Dress of Memphis, Tenn., David McCracken of Yukon, Okla., Sara McCracken of Tuttle, Okla.
Memorial has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas, 115 W. Central, El Dorado, 67042.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is handling the arrangements.

Jack Forshey

Jack Forshey, 54, Augusta, retired Raytheon Aircraft sanitation department forklift operator, died Sunday Aug. 18, 2002.
His funeral service will he 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Hillside Funeral Home Chapel in Augusta.
Visitation with family will be possible from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, at Hillside Funeral Home.
Survivors include: wife, Glenda Forshey of Augusta; mother, Juanita Bush of Parsons; brother and wife, John and Betty Jean Forshey; sister, Margaret Forshey, all of Parsons; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Red and Martha Santee of Andover; brothers-in-law and spouses, Hershel and Sue Santee of Tempe,
Ariz., Andy and Kat Santee of Atlanta; sister-in-law and spouse, Brenda and Dave Lieber of El Dorado; one niece, three nephews and numerous aunts and uncles.
Mr. Forshey was preceded in death by father, Howard Forshey, step-father, Sam Bush and sister, Cheryl Ann Blackburn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 8340 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, Kan.,66206.

Hurd, Thomas Lynn, 92,

retired Mobil Oil Refinery safety supervisor, died Wednesday, Oct. 2,2002. Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. today, Dunsford Funeral Home. Service 1:30 p.m. Saturday, First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Hurd was born on Aug. 2, 1910, one of two children bom to Jeff and Della Barnes Hurd near Mayflower in Barry County, Mo. His family moved to Kansas near the town of Climax in Greenwood County in 1912.
Lynn graduated from Climax High School in 1928, and attended Emporia Kansas Teacher’s College, now Emporia State University.
His early employment was with the Fuller Brush Company and Arnold and Colyer Grain and Feed Company. In 1941, he joined the Mobil Oil Company at the Augusta, Kansas, refinery. He entered the military service in early 1943, serving in the Army Medical Service in the European Theatre, receiving an honorable discharge in November 1945.
He returned to Mobil in Augusta where he worked in the Operations Department until 1948, when he was assigned to the Refinery Safety and Employee Relations Department. He retired from Mobil in November of 1972.
Further military service was with the Army Reserve from 1947 until 1971, his last assignment being with the Adjutant General Section in the 89th Division, receiving the Commendation Medal for meritorious service.
Community service included the American Legion, VFW, Boy Scout leader and Merit Badge counselor, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, and membership at First United Methodist Church of Augusta.
He was united in marriage to Etta Marie Crow of Garden City in 1931. To this union two sons were bom: Tom and Tim.
Etta Marie died on July 27,1969, after their 38 years of marriage.
He was united in marriage to Sylvia Munn in 1971. She later died on January 15,1998. She had worked at Boeing Wichita for 27 years.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, his wife, Etta Marie, his wife, Sylvia, and his son, Tom, who died in August 1979.
Survivors: son, Richard Tim of Springdale, Ark.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 2420 Ohio, Augusta, KS 67010.
