Sandi Gore-Evans
Sandi Gore-Evans, Augusta, died this morning, Sept. 20, 2002.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Church of Christ in Augusta.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel in Augusta. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
She was born in 1945 in Olney, Texas, to Henry Kirby Gore and Jean Flanigan.
The family moved to Augusta in 1947 where Sandi attended school.
She graduated high school in Israel after moving with her family in 1961 and returned to the States the following year to marry her high school sweetheart, James L. Evans.
After 1966, they made their home in Augusta. He preceded her in death in 1995. Her parents also preceded her in death.
Sandi, a self-taught and self-employed artist, opened her own gift store in 1984 to showcase her art. She designed for a variety of companies since 1997 and had contracts with thirty-four businesses at the time of her death. Her work is known nationally.
Survivors include: daughter, Stacy Lester and husband, Rob of Augusta; son, Jamie Evans and wife, Amanda of Wichita; daughter, Holly Hubble and hus-
band, Bob of Augusta; son, Michael Evans of Augusta; grandchildren, Jesse and Kearby LeMay, Gabriel Lester, Henri and Samuel Hubble, all of Augusta; brother, Ronnie Gore and wife, Stella of Sugarland, Texas; brother-in-law, Eddie Evans and wife, Sue of Augusta.
The Sandi-Gore Evans Endowment Scholarship has been established in care of Dave Bisagno at Prairie State Bank to assist young local artists in continuing their studies.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of the arrangements. __

James Ellis Ulshafer, 56, Augusta, Kaylor Dental Lab dental technician, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in the Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel in Augusta.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., today, Oct. 2, at the local chapel.
Survivors include: wife, Phyllis Ulshafer, Augusta; step sons, Randy Welch and John Neff, both of Wichita; step daughter, Loneta Krack of Augusta; mother, Eloise Ulshafer of South Whitley, Ind.; brothers, Edward, Fort Wayne, Ind., Jack, Terry, and Tom, all of South Whitley, Ind., Ben Ulshafer of Tippee Canoe, Ind.; sister, Loretta Easterday of South Whitley, Ind.; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, 67202.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is handling the arrangements.

Retired teacher Mary Elizabeth Kistler, 83, Carter, Okla., formerly of Augusta, died
Saturday, Sept. 21,2002.
Her funeral service was held today, Sept. 24, at Carter United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: husband, Arley; sons, Kent of Edmond, Okla., Ron of Carter, Okla., Steve of Stillwater, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, and one greatgrandchild.
Whinery-Savage Funeral Service of Elk City, Okla, was in charge of arrangements.
Homer H. Berner
Retired Texas newspaperman Homer H. Berner, 73, Augusta, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 15, at First Christian Church, 1600 State.
He was born Jan. 27, 1929 in Augusta to Homer W. and Walsie Pearl Nelson Berner.
He leaves his wife, Shirley, of the home, as well as daughter Kay Lynn Trotta and her husband, Paul, of DeQueen, Ark.; daughter Gail Ann Harcrow and her husband Everett of New Braunfels, Texas; grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, and Steven Trotta; Jeffrey Sigsbee of Crafton, Texas, and Paul Sigsbee of Decatur, Texas; Sean Ben, and Gabe Harcrow, all of San Marcos, Texas; Jennifer Sigsbee of New York; Monica and Kirk Knox of San Diego, Calif., Gwen and Roy Tillery of Elkins, Ark.; great-grandchildren Elaina, Christian, Ayden Tillery and Selby and Abigail Knox.
Memorials to First Christian Church , 1600 State, Augusta, KS, 67010 are suggested.
