Doris Mae Mehl
Doris Mae (Cyphers) Mehl, 85, Pueblo, Colo., former Augusta resident, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta.
Her grandson, Pastor Eric Mason will officiate. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
She was born on Oct. 7, 1916 in Shreveport, La. and moved with her family at an early age to the Augusta area where she spent most of her life.
She married Edgar Mehl in 1938. He preceded her in death in 1972. She moved to Pueblo, Colo, in 1983.
Preceding her in death were: her parents, Elmer E. and Grace Cyphers; sister, Violet Dobbins;
brothers, Mike Cyphers and James Cyphers.
Survivors include: daughter, Sherrill (Rex) Coday of Pueblo, Colo; son, Jerry and wife, Jeanne Mehl of Augusta; four grandsons and wives, Eric and Lisa Mason of Hugoton, Ed and Debbie Mason of Elizabeth, Colo., Darrin and Becky Mason of Edwards AFB, Calif., Dennis Mason of Colorado Springs, Colo.; step-grandsons and wives, Todd and Sharia Coday, Devron and Desilyn Coday, all of Denver, Colo.; granddaughters, Heidi Mehl, attending Kansas University in Lawrence, Gretchen Mehl of Augusta; brothers and wives, Paul and Frances Cyphers, Bob and Donna Cyphers, Dean and Martha Cyphers. He had 13 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary B. McCracken
Mary B. (Clanton) McCracken, 76, Augusta, retired from City of Augusta utilities office and mother of Lee McCracken of Augusta, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Christ Lutheran Church of Augusta.
Survivors include: sons and daughter-in-laws, Wayne and Jane McCracken of Tuttle, Okla., Steve and Cheryl McCracken of Arlington, Texas; brothers, Danny Joe Clanton of Arlington, Texas, Jackie Clanton of Arlington, Texas, Dean Clanton of Moore, Okla.; sister, Becky Harmon of Chickasha, Okla.; two sister-in-laws; three grandchildren.
Memorial has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas,
115 W. Central, El Dorado.
Bob Watson
Robert Lee “Bob” Watson, 63, Augusta, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002.
His graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Whitewater Cemetery.
Survivors include: wife,
Becky; stepsons, Jim Whisler of El Dorado, Wayne Leary of Augusta; stepdaughter, Robin of Iowa; brothers, Phil, Norman, both of Augusta; sisters, Edna Cox, Norma “Genie” Copeland, Doris Ann Simon, all of Augusta, Sharon Simon of Douglass, Karen Nance of Independence, Janet Nevitt of Emporia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the funeral fund c/o Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.
Velma Tornquist
Velma Tornquist, 85, Augusta, retired Beech Aircraft quality control crew chief, died Tuesday, Oct. 15,2002.
Her funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at the Augusta First Christian Church.
Survivors include: son, Gerald Eugene Tornquist of Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Edna Boyer of Augusta; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Memorial has been established with the First Christian Church, 1600 State, Augusta.
Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta is handling the arrange-ments.
Harold G. Thornton
Harold G. Thornton, 95, Madison, retired Mobil Oil security guard, brother of
Humphrey Thornton of Augusta, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002.
His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 22, at Blakely Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with Madison Depot Fund.
Wilson Funeral Home of Madison is handling the arrangements.
