Ruby L. January, 93, Augusta, homemaker, died Wednesday Jan. 8, 2003.
Her graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Ruby was born Jan. 29, 1909 in Gentry, Ark,, to Allen and Anna (Gouge) Feaster.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, C.C. “Whitey” January, daughter-in-law, Mary Ann January.
Survivors include: son, Bill January and companion, Betty Moss of Augusta, Jim January and wife, Mary of Shell Knob, Mo.; grandchildren, Gemey Kay Hobson, Missy Mary Deweese, Angelia Parker, John January, Michaelle Hancock, Leah Ann January, William J. January; great-grandchildren, Josh Deweese, Joe Deweese, Randy Gale Stark, Jeff Parker,’ Stacy Hobson, Casey Harrison, Jack C. January, Ruby L. Hancock, Jaz January, Claire Marie January, Jacob January;
great-great-grandchildren,

Smitherman, Leon Chalmer
85, of Denver, Colo., formerly of Wichita, oil and gas businessman, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003. Service 2 p.m. Wednesday, Fairmount Mausoleum Chapel, Denver.
He was born April 24, 1917 in Arkansas City, Kan. He grew up and attended school in Kansas. He was an independent oil and gas
driller, producer and operator in the Mid-continent, Rocky Mountain regions. He was a lifetime member of the Wichita Petroleum Club, a member of the Major Benefactors Foundation, Mayo Clinic Hospital in Scottsdale, Ariz. and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Denver.
Preceded in death by his parents, Chalmer and Hazel (Foudray) Smitherman.
Survivors: wife, Cora of the home; son, Leon, Jr. and wife, Beverly Jean, of El Dorado; grandson, Leon III and wife,
Julie, and great grandson, James Parker, of Raleigh, N.C.; brother, Glenn, sister, Karolynn, both of Wichita; first wife, Dorothy of El Dorado. Memorial established with Parkinson Disease Assoc, of the Rockies, 1420 Ogden St., Denver, CO 80218. Fairmount Mortuary, 430 S. Quebec St., Denver, CO 80247.
