Robert Doyle Norris

Retired funeral home assistant Robert Doyle Norris, 89, Madison, Wis., formerly of Augusta, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003.
There will be no local service.
He was a United States Army World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by wife, Eleanor Louise Norris.
Survivors are: stepsons, James D. Murray of Madison, Wis., Nicholas Murray of Bandon, Ore.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Memorial established with First United Methodist Church, 2420 N. Ohio, Augusta, 67010.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Eck

Charles Eck, 67, Wichita, businessman and owner of C.E. Machine Co. Inc., father of Marie Michelle Hand of Augusta, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003.
His funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at St. Mark Catholic Church in St. Mark, Kan.; interment at 4 p.m. in St. John Cemetery in Beloit.
Rosary 7 p.m. tonight at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wichita.
Other survivors include: wife, Dolores; daughters Colleen Rose Medill of Knoxville, Tenn., Laurie Jeanne Heap of Kansas City, Kan..; brothers, Paul, Matt, both of Wichita, Kenneth of Goddard; sisters, Donna Peters, Ann Brown, both of Wichita; 10 grandchildren.
Memorials established with St. Patrick Grade School and Bishop Carroll High School.
Devorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary in Wichita has charge of the arrangements.

William G. Weston III

William G. Weston III, 49, Arkansas City, self-employed carpet layer, father of Chase Weston and Holly Weston of Augusta, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at the First Presbyterian Church in Arkansas City.
Other survivors include: daughter, Jennifer Blatchford of Arkansas City, son Bryan Schroeder of Arizona.; sisters, Janet Leiker of Overland Park, Carol Robb, Linda Terrill both of Arkansas City; and one grandchild.
Memorial established with Ark City Girls Fastpitch Softball Association.
Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City is in charge of the arrangements.

Garrett F. Murphy

Garrett F. Murphy, 74, Wellington, refrigeration specialist, brother of Barbara Jo Dunnam of Augusta, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003.
Private burial has been held.
Other survivors: wife, Mary; son, Michael of Wellington; brother, Robert of El Dorado; seven grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren.
Day Funeral Home of Wellington is handling the arrangements.

Clarence Leonard ‘Monk’ Lewis

Clarence Leonard “Monk” Lewis, 88, Sultan, Wash., formerly of Augusta, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003 at Regency Nursing Home in Monroe, Wash.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta. Coffee and dessert will be served following the service at the Augusta Senior Center. 640 Osage
He was born in Douglass on July 18, 1914 to Orville B r i m r o s e “Buck” Lewis and Lula May Brookings Lewis. He married Mildred Marion Cowles on Dec. 5, 1936 in Augusta.
She preceded him in death in 1964. Also preceding him in death were: his parents; two sisters, Gladys Bright and Beatrice Thomas; brother, Albert Ray Lewis.
He worked on the railroad in Kansas during the Depression and installed inlaid linoleum for many years. He retired in August of 1976 after 25 years with Cessna Aircraft Co. in Wichita. He was a former member of the Odd Fellows and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, playing cards, dancing, and his family.
Survivors include: daughter, Patricia Marie (Lewis) Westover and husband, Gene of Sultan, Wash.; son, Robert Ray Lewis and wife, Suzanne of Olympia, Wash.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The family requests that remembrances in his name be made to Valley General Hospital Building Fund in Monroe, Wash., the Sultan Volunteer Fire Department, Sultan, Wash., or to your favorite charity.
