Leroy Simon
Leroy Urban Simon, 75, Augusta, passed away Friday, July 25, 2003 at his residence.
His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening, July 28, at the Headley Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Simon was born in Castleton on March 5, 1928, the son of the Robert and Ida (Seiler) Simon.
He was a farmer and also owned and operated Simon Augusta Locker from 1961-1972, where he was meat cutter.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
On April 23, 1946 he married Luella Evans in Augusta. She preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2003.
Survivors are sons and daughters-in law, Junior and wife, Ruby Simon, Augusta, Robert and wife, Arlene Simon of Wichita, Dale and wife, Lois Simon, Marcus and wife, Mary Simon, all of Augusta; daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and husband, Loyd Sims, Brenda and husband, Ron Davis, all of Augusta; brothers, Cletus Simon of Syracuse, Dennis Simon of Dodge City, Elmer Simon, Earl Simon, both of Augusta, Kenneth Simon of Douglass; sisters, Joann Heimerman of Wichita, Betty Carroll of Leesburg, Fla. Doris Proctor, Mary Anderson, both of Augusta; grandchildren, Darwin Weber, Wichita, April Hunt, Buhler, Tess Phillips, Nickerson, Tina Wood, Augusta, Jerry Simon, Wichita, Lee and Randy Sims, Augusta, Toni Sneary, Wichita, Mike Carmichael, Kansas City, Mo., Jennifer Funke, Cheney, Sean Parsons, Andrew Simon, Kristi Davis, Jennifer Davis, Megan Davis, Jordan Simon, Stefani Simon, all of Augusta; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Rosalie Parsons, Pamela Weber-Sowers; brother, Eugene Simon; sisters, Thelma Hoge and Ethel MacKay.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, 67202.
Headley Funeral Chapel of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.

Anieta L. Wasson, 83 Channel View, Texas, sistei of Mildred Lister of Augusta died Saturday July 26, 2003
Her funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31, in the Wilson Funeral Home at Madison. Burial will be in Number Eight Cemetery east of Madison..
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the funeral home.
Other survivors include: son, Jerome P. Wasson, Eagle River, Alaska; daughter, Ann Marie Plaisance, Channel View, Texas; sisters, Norma Harlan of Madison, Patricia Shaffer, Tulsa, Okla.; three, grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Cecil V. and Helen M. Perrine Durant; brother, Edward Durant; her husband, Joseph P. “Bus” Wasson.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society or American Red Cross in lieu of flowers. Contributions may be sent in care of the Wilson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 488, Madison, KS 66860.
