Edwin G. Welch
Edwin G. Welch, 62, Goddard, retired Vulcan Materials employee, brother of Betty Moss. of Augusta, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003.
His graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington.
Other survivors include: wife, Norma; daughter, Malinda Nuss of Belle Plaine; brother Darwin D. of Wichita.
Zelpha A. Kirk
Zelpha A. Kirk, 85, Augusta, homemaker, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Augusta First Southern Baptist Church followed by graveside service at 12:30 p.m., Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington.
Survivors are: daughters, Janice Baca of Mulvane, Connie Gean of Augusta, Francis Morris and Sharon Lee, both of Wichita; 25 grandchildren; 65 greatgrandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by husband, Earl Kirk and daughters, Donna Townsley and Judy Gunderson.
Memorials may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church in Augusta.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.
Clifford A. Bailey
Clifford Alvin Bailey, 84, Ponca City, Okla., formerly of Augusta, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003.
His graveside service was held this morning, Oct. 6, at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Ponca City.
Mr. Bailey was raised in Augusta and was a World
War II veteran of the United States Navy.
Survivors are: wife, Betty of the home; sister, Merle Lovell of San Carlos, Calif.; step brothers, Bert Thomas of Augusta, Ernest Thomas of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; one niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Christian Church, 2109 W. Grand, Ponca City, Okla., 74601.
Trout Funeral Home of Ponca City handled the arrangements.
John Thomas Renfro
John Thomas Renfro, 64, Spring Hill, Fla., retired IBM programmer and United States Army veteran, son of Wilma Renfro of Augusta, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003.
Other survivors include: wife, Diane: son, Russell Renfro of Holly Springs, NC; daughter, Julia Ann Love of Olmstead Township, Ohio; sisters, Yvonne Apel of Augusta, Phyllis
Reifschneider of Concordia; two grandchildren.
The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to Hospice or National Alzheimer’s Organization.
Robert Ellis Reid
Robert Ellis Reid, 84, Andover, retired union carpenter, father of Robert and John Reid of Augusta, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003.
A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday; Oct. 8, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Andover.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the church.
Other survivors include: wife, Alice; sons, Jim of Rose Hill, Don of Parkville, Mo., Jack of Wichita; daughters, Roberta and Betty, both of Wichita; sister, Vergie Baldwin of Garnett; five grandchildren.
Memorials established with St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Andover Senior Center and Trinity Hospice.

Machinist, stepfather of Jeffery Mattix of Augusta,
died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003.
His funeral service was held today, Oct. 13, at the First Christian Church of Clearwater.
Other survivors include: wife, Wanda; sons, Donald of Gatesville, Texas, Harold Stephens of Oklahoma City, Okla., Gary Stephens of Mill Creek, Wash., Ronald Stephens of Brier , Wash.; step son, Jon Mattix of Wichita; sister, Edith Zeleny of Annapolis, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Webb-Shinkle Mortuary of Clearwater was in charge of arrangements.
James Thomas Miller, Jr.
James Thomas Miller, Jr., 49, Wichita, Thomas Moving and Storage mover, brother of Vicki Beach of Augusta, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Church of Living God.
Other survivors include: parents, Rudolph and Bernice Beach; brothers, Anthony Townes, Garry Townes, William Townes, Keith Woods, Chris Beach, Rudolph Beach Jr., all of Wichita; sister, Marzeta Beach of Wichita; step daughter, Crystal Moreno of Wichita; companion, Janet Johnson; one grandchild.
