Kenneth Wade Elledge

Rural Andover resident Kenneth Wade Elledge, 54, a truck driver and former Wyatt’s Cafeteria Towne East manager, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003 in Springdale, Ark.
His funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct, 28, at Metro East Baptist Church in Wichita.
Visitation with family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, . Oct. 26, at Broadway Mortuary in Wichita.
He was born to Kenneth E. and Nellie M. (Watson) Elledge on Sept. 29, 1949 in Hope, Ark.
Elledge graduated from high school in 1967 and enlisted in the United States Army, trained in San Antonio, was stationed in Hastings, Neb., then left for one tour of duty in Viet Nam,
He married Ruth V. Boyd on Aug. 21, 1971 in Lebanon, Neb. The couple moved to the rural Andover and Augusta area in 1980. Kenneth was active in sports and took great pride in his children’s accomplishments and
enjoyed his new daughters. Survivors are: wife, Ruth; sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan Andrew “Andy” and wife, Lisa of Augusta, Matthew Wayne and wife, Katja of Wichita; Kevin of the home; brother, Joe Edward of Huntsville, Ark.; sister, Joyce Robbins of Plano, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Anthony and William Lee.
Memorials established with Prairie State Bank for his sons and also with Metro East Baptist Church.
Broadway Mortuary of Wichita has charge of the arrangements.

Opal Marjorie Conley

Opal Marjorie (Landis) Conley, 85, Wellington, mother of Connie Preston of Augusta, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, at her home in the presence of her loving family-
She was a homemaker and a long-time Wellington resident having moved there in 1975 from San Antonio, Texas.Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on
Monday, Nov. 10, at the First Christian Church in Wellington with Pastor Sallie Shore officiating.
Grave side service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the White Chapel Cemetery in Wichita.
Mrs. Conley was born March 30, 1918 in Lamont, Okla., to Christena (Johnsen) and Fred Landis.
She graduated from Lamont High School with the Class of 1937.
She married Donald William Conley on Dec. 11, 1938 in Wichita. They lived
in Wichita until 1968 when they moved to San Antonio.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha for 27 years. She enjoyed playing cards in several local bridge clubs. She bowled in the Tea Time Bowling League for years and had bowled in many Senior State Tournaments.
Survivors include: son, Jerry Dean Conley and wife, Debbie of Wichita; daughters, Joyce E. Rutledge of St. Louis, Mo., Connie J. Preston and her husband, Mike of Augusta; brother, Robert Landis and wife, Joyce of Lamont, Okla.; sister, Dorthea Shuyler of Garber, Okla.
Mrs. Conley was preceded in death by: husband, Donald on Dec. 2, 2002; parents; brothers, Edward Landis, Gerald Landis, Charles Landis; sisters, Evelyn Beardsley, Winona Oxindine, June Davis; great-grandson, Justin Anderson.
Memorial funds established with the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and the Wellington First Christian Church.
Frank Funeral Home of Wellington has charge of the arrangements.


‘Jerry’ Seed

Geraldine “Jerry” Seed, 77, of Saginaw, Mich., formerly of Leon, died Oct. 11, 2003.
Her funeral service was held Oct. 14 at the funeral chapel in Saginaw.
