James W. Westbrook
James W. “Jim” Westbrook, 75, Augusta, died Saturday, Nov. 29,2003.
His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Dunsford Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Dunsford Chapel.
Mr. Westbrook was born on July 13, 1928 in Kansas City, Mo., to Thomas and Gladys (McCammon) Westbrook.
He was a graduate of the University of Kansas and a resident of Augusta since 1988. He was formerly of Alexandria, Va.
He was a retired Lt. Col. in the United States Air Force, serving for 31 years. He was a veteran of World
War II, Korean and Viet Nam Wars. His decorations ncluded the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and many others.
Mr. Westbrook served on the President’s Investigatory Commission from 1975 to 1979 in Washington D.C.
On March 25, 1951 he married Yvonne Hammer at Claflin. She preceded him in death on April 10, 1971.
On August 12, 1988 he married Dolores Bieberle at Hoisington.
Survivors include: wife, Delores; sons, Tony of Los Angeles, Calif., Randy of Leesburg, Va.; step sons, Keith Bieberle of St. John, Glen Bieberle of Hoisington, Darin Bieberle of Great Bend; daughters, Cheryl Hoffman of Glen Dale, Calif., Sonya Westbrook of Woodbridge, Va.; step daughters, Janiece Klenda of La Cross, Kay Demel of Hiawatha; one grandson; nine step grandchildren.
Memorial established with AMVETS National Service Foundation. Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.
Hazel Mae Bremerkamp
Hazel Mae Bremerkamp, 95, Wichita, homemaker, mother of Mary Ann Clare of Augusta, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003.
Her funeral mass was held today, Dec. 1, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Wellsville, Mo.
Other survivors are; daughter, Linda Lewis of Wichita; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Fred P. Bremerkamp.
Memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, 67213.
Hillside Funeral Home East of Wichita had charge of the arrangements.
Helen Newton
Helen Newton, 79, Augusta, formerly of Quakertown, Pa., died i Friday, Nov. 28, 2003.
Inurnment will be held at it a later date at Whitemarsh 1 Memorial Park in Ambler, ^ Penn.
Survivors include: son, David Newton of Andover; daughter, Marilyn Wallace of Poolesville, Md.; six grandchildren; two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Hospice, 1938 N. Woodlawn, Wichita, 67208.
Lakeview Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Thomas John Matheny
Thomas John Matheny, 60, Wichita, sales representative, father of Sean Matheny of Augusta, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 2, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clonmel.
Visitation is possible today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West in Wichita.
Other survivors include: wife, Patricia; daughters, Michelle Butterfield of Wichita, Maureen Kunkel of Peck; seven grandchildren; brother, James Matheny of Woodward, Okla.
Memorial established with Cancer Center of Kansas.
Downing & Lahey Mortuary West of Wichita is handling the arrangements.
