Emirt R. “Smitty” Smith,
53, Douglass, Apex Engineering tool and dye maker, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003.
His funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan.
2, 2004 at Broadway
Mortuary Chapel in Wichita. .
His survivors are: wife, Brenda of the home; sons, Chris, Brian, Jason, all of Wichita, Leslie of the home, Shawn of Derby, Craig of Lincoln, Neb.; daughters, Stacie Washington of Oklahoma City, Okla., Sandra Randall, Krissy Smith, both of Wichita, Tiffany Smith of the home; brother, George T. Smith of Wichita; sisters, Karen Lopez of Indianapolis, Mary Gillett of Andover, Diane Greene of Klamath Falls, Ore.; eight grandchildren.
Memorials have been established with American Lung Association and The Farm Inc. Foster Care Program in Butler County.
Broadway Mortuary of Wichita is handling the arrangements.
Margaret E. Bowles
Margaret E. Bowles, 81, Hutchinson, mother of Tom Bowles of Augusta, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003.
Her funeral service was held on Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson.
Other survivors are: son, Bob of Lawrence; sisters, Mary Ann Mattison and Lou Peel, both of Hutchinson; four grandchildren.
Elliott Mortuary of Hutchinson had charge of the arrangements,
Merle A. Reeder
Merle A. Reeder, 91, Eureka, homemaker, mother and mother-in-law of Pat and Kenneth Pierce of Augusta, died on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2003.
Graveside service . and interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Greenwood
Cemetery in Eureka.
Other survivors include: two granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter;
one sister.
She was preceded in death by parents, William and Clara (Kindle) Whetstone, husband, Mutt, one brother and two sisters.
Memorial has been established in her name to the Climax United Methodist Church. The Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka, who has charge of the arrangements.

Shirley B. Gardner, 88, Wichita, formerly ot
Augusta, homemaker, died Wednesday, Dec. 24,2003.
Her funeral service was held today, Dec. 29, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Wichita.
Survivors include: children, Bobbi Coke of Belle Plaine, Lee Gardner of Wichita, Darla Bauman of Lynwood, Wash., Joan League of Great Bend, Carrol Wampler of Rogers, Ark., Fred Gardner ot Harrison, Ark.; sister, Jeri Hold of Rogers, Ark.; 32 grandchildren; 60 greatgrandchildren; three great-
great-grandchildren.
Contributions are suggested to Prairie Homestead ,, Health Center.
Lakeview Funeral Home of Wichita handled the arrangements.
Dorothy Gruver-Smith
Dorothy Gruver-Smith, 77, Wichita, retired accountant for J.I. Case and former league coordinator for Seneca Lanes, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.Visitation with family present will be possible from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday,Dec. 30.
Survivors include: husband, Lawrence Smith of Longview, Wash.; son, Curtis Gruver of, Wichita; daughter and husband, Kristie and Richard Valasek of Wichita; daughter-in-law, Lisa Gruver of Wichita; stepson and wife, L.D. and Cindy Smith of Longview, Wash.; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael, Jennifer, Brian; friends. Sharia Schlotthauer and Marge Rains, both of Wichita.
She was preceded in death by husband, Mike Gruver and son Kim McKenzie.
Memorial established for Youth Bowling Association, C/O Seneca Lanes, 1909 S. Seneca, Wichita, 67213.
Arrangements are being handled by Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
