Vicky Robinson
Vicky Elaine Robinson, 61, Wichita, homemaker, sister of Dean Jackson of o Augusta, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003.
A private memorial service has been held.
Other survivors are: husband, Andrew J. Robinson of Wichita; adopted sisters, Pat McVey and Melinda Helmer, both of Wichita.
Lakeview Funeral Home of Wichita had charge of the arrangements.
Donald Garrett
Donald W. Garrett, 81, Gridley, retired teacher and custodian, formerly of rural Augusta, died Tuesday, Dec. ,30, 2003.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, .Jan. 4, at the Gridley Christian Church.
Interment will be at Stringtown Cemetery northeast of Burlington.
Other survivors include: wife, Ethel; sons, Durward Garrett of Fargo, N.D., David Garrett of Olathe; .eight grandchildren; brother, James Garrett of Burlington; aunts and uncle.
He was preceded in death by brother, Daryl Garrett and sister, Patricia Bellinger.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gridley Christian Center or Hand-in-Hand Hospice of Emporia.
Jones Funeral Home of Burlington is handling the arrangements.
Wilma Metzger
Wilma J. Metzger, 85, Wichita, retired Boeing Aircraft blue print shop employee, mother and mother-in-law of Linda and Tony Dester of Augusta, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004.
Her funeral service was held today, Jan. 5, at the Planeview Community Church and graveside serv-p ice was held at Oakridge Cemetery in Perry.
Other survivors include: sons, Gary of Hollister, Mo.,
Ron of Fall River; sisters, Margaret Vannattan of
Perry, Mary Davis of Batesville, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren.
Memorial established with Planeview Community Church.
Hillside Funeral Home East of Wichita had charge of the arrangements.
David McHam
David E. McHam, 78, Andover, father and father-in-law of former Augusta residents Karla and Charles Hart, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004.
His funeral sevice was held today, Jan. 5, at the Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta.
Mr. McHam was a retired self-employed storage unit owner/operator.
In addition to the Harts, he leaves his wife, Sylvia, of the home, and three grandchildren, Benjamin, Andrew, and Reagan Hart.
The Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta was in charge of arrangements.
Humphrey R. Thornton
Humphrey Rollin Thornton, 90, Augusta, retired operator/machinist for Mobil Refinery for 38 years, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 700A
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the First Christian Church.
Visitation from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday., Jan. 6, and Wednesday, Ja'n. 7, at Dunsford Funeral Home.
Mr. Thornton was born on April 12, 1913 in Madison to Harry G. and Bertha (Logston) Thornton.
He married Violet Force on June 6, 1938 in Emporia. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening (flowers) and sports.
He lettered 12 times in different sports in school. At one time, he raised bird dogs.
Mr. Thornton always loved vacations in Colorado. He and his brothers worked close to 150 years at Mobil Refinery without a day off for an injury.
His survivors are: wife, Violet; son, Daryl of Augusta; daughters, Claudia Dunbar of Wichita, Carol Smith of Belle Plaine; nine grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, brothers, Chet, Charlie, Harold, Tony, and a son, Tommy Neil.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is handling the arrangements.
