Kenneth E. Markley
Kenneth Eldon Markley, 83, Augusta, died on Friday, Jan. 2, 2004.
His Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Augusta Christ Lutheran Church.
Visitation with family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. this
evening, Jan. 5, at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
Mr. Markley was born in Augusta on Dec. 19, 1920, the son of the late Ray and Harriett (Hiner) Markley.
He was a service manager at various Chevrolet dealers in Augusta, including Frye Chevrolet, retiring in 2000.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
On May 5, 1946, he married Eleanor (Mittelstadt) in Brewster, Minn. She preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 1983.
A brother Dwight, preceded him in death as well. On Dec. 20, 1987, he married LaVonne (Buettgenbach) in Augusta. She survives.
Mr. Markley also leaves sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Jeanine Markley of Augusta, Galen and Paula Markley of Linn Creek, Mo.; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Rex Cagle of Augusta, Debbie and Mark Heinrich of Carlsbad, N.M.; grandchildren and spouses, Amber and Aaron Buster of Orlando, Fla., Dallas and Mitch Matthews of Minneapolis, Stacy and Claib Harris IV of Melvern, Bethany and Tim Sparks of Kansas City, Kan., Jeremiah and April Markley of Papua, New Guinea, Esther and Kevin Brown of Kansas City, Mo., Leah and Grady Burkhalter of Linn Creek, Mo.; granddaughter and fiance, Melody Usher and Ben Fuethe, Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren, Davin Markley of Manhattan, Kaleb, Kelsey and Colton Heinrich of Carlsbad, N.M., Toni and Tami Usher of Augusta, Joshua Markley of Linn Creek, Mo.; greatgrandchildren, Claib V. and Carley Harris, Madalyn Matthews, Jordan and Judah Markley, Briahnna Brown; brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Beth Markley of Augusta; brother, Clifford Markley of Birmingham, Ala.; stepdaughter, Teresa Buettgenbach of Ft. Collins, Colo.; stepgrandchild, Elizabeth Buettgenbach.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth “Betty” McDougald, was held today, Jan. 5, 2004, at the Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church in Irving, Texas. Rev. Msgr. Jerome Duesman was the celebrant.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Titusville, Fla.
Mrs. McDougald, 78, formerly of Augusta, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at a nursing facility in Irving.
She was born May 23, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pa.
She was owner and operator of Mac’s Clay Castle in Augusta.
Mrs. McDougald leaves children, Mary Long of Irvin, Fay Hastings of Wichita, Trish Mansfield of Carrollton, Texas, Michael McDougald of Wichita, Tim McDougald of Augusta, and John McDougald of Tyler, Texas; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.Hal MrDnngald and son James McDougald.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mary A. Bates, 85, Douglass, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004.
Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Jan. 6, at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Douglass.
Survivors are: son, Kenneth of rural Cedar Vale; brother, Louis March of Douglass; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home of Douglass is handling the arrangements.
