Bernie Deen Liebst

Bernie Deen Liebst, 75, Wichita, retired Cessna Aircraft Co. employee, father and father-in-law of Rick and Joyce Liebst of Augusta, died Sunday, Jan; 4, 2004.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons.
Other survivors include; wife, Mary; stepdaughter, Barbara Haycox of Okla.; brother, Brian Liebst of Fla.; sister, Barbara Westebbe of Va.; six grandchildren.
Broadway Mortuary of Wichita is handling the arrangements.

Wilma Shepard

Wilma P. (Larson) Shepard, 90, Chanute, mother and mother-in-law of Opal and Melvin Alford of Augusta, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Chanute. Burial will follow at Vilas Cemetery.
Other survivors are: husband, Dale R. Shepard of the home, son, Harold Larson of Wichita; daughters,
Dorothy Schaal and Evelyn Grady, both of Chanute.
She was preceded in death by parents, William and Blanche Hooper and husband, Clarence “Chub” Everly.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Victory in the Valley Cancer Center in care of Gibson-Koch-Friskel Chapel of Chanute, who has charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mary L. McPherson

Mary L. McPherson, 86, Douglass, homemaker, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004.
Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Douglass Church of Christ.
Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Kathy McPherson, Charles and Helen McPherson, all of Douglass; daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Doyle High of Douglass, Charlene and Phillip Crown of Iola; brother, Warren Childers of Diamond Springs, Calif.; sister, Louise Jones of Peck; six grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: husband, Robert C. McPherson; son, James Leroy McPherson; grandson, Steven High; brothers, Harry, Hank and Louis.
Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.

Janet A. McWilliam

Janet A. “Jai” McWilliam, 54, Emporia, daughter of Nadine Hughes of Augusta, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004.
Cremation is planned.
A memorial service, conducted by the family, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Towanda Community Church in Towanda.
Other survivors are: husband, Marvin Lee McWilliam of the home; sister, Joyce “J.D.” Metcalf of Augusta; step children, Melinda McWilliam of San Antonio, Texas, Frederick McWilliam of Dallas, Texas; one niece and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Irby “Bud” Hughes, and brother, Walter Michael Hughes.
Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home of Emporia is handling the arrangements.

Thomas Ray Darnold

Thomas Ray Darnold, Prue, Okla., former Augusta resident and business owner, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004.
His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Jan. 10, at the. Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland, Okla.

Lee A. McCluskey

Lee A. McCluskey, 84, Augusta, died today, Jan. 9, 2004.
Service arrangements were pending this morning with Hillside Funeral Home of Augusta.
