Mary Joyce Reith
Mary Joyce Reith, 68, Herington, formerly of Augusta, died Saturday, April 24, 2004.
Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, funeral service will be at 1:30 Thursday, both at Dunsford Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
She was the daughter of Albert and Ruby Cowan.
Survivors include: husband, Armon Reith; sons, Stephen Smith of Bel Aire, Eldon Smith of Lincolnville, David Smith of Dickinson, Texas, Bryan Smith of Loganville, Ga.; daughters, Dianne Beye of Olathe, Janice Smith of Wichita; brothers, Harold and Michael Cowan, both of Lee’s Summitt, Mo., Donald Cowan of Baton Rouge, La., Albert Cowan of Newton; sisters, Shirley Boring of Garland, Texas, Margaret Quigg of Lamar, Ark., Lynda Hunt of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Carole Seaton of Walla Walla, Wash.; M grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Memorial established with American Cancer Society.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.
Maxine Wade
Maxine Trebbe Wade, 87, Artesia, Calif., formerly of Augusta, died on March 22, 2004.
A memorial service was held at Faith Church at Norwalk, Calif, and graveside services were held on March 26, at Forest Lawn in Cypress, Calif.
Her survivors include: son, Russell Curtis Wade, Jr.; daughter, Beverly Ann DeKruyf; four grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents,
Francis and Anna (Bowermaster) Trebbe; husband, Russell; sisters, Muriel Clark, Faye Brown, Ruth McClintick; brothers, Francis H. Trebbe, Glenn Trebbe, Guy Trebbe; greatgrandchild, Rebecca
DeKruyf.
Ira ‘Joe’ Payne
Ira “Joe” Payne, 67, Winfield, Clyde Petroleum field supervisor, father of Kristie Bird of Augusta, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004.
Private services are planned for a later date.
Other survivors are: wife, Stephanie; two grandchildren.
Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home of Winfield is handling the arrangements.
Harry F. Cody
Harry Frank Cody, 85, El Dorado, brother of Hazel Mauk and Walter Cody of Augusta, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 7, at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado.
He served in the United States Army during Wopr;ld War II, receiving the Purple j Heart.
Other survivors include: ’ sons, John Cody of El Dorado, Carl Cody of Cassoday, Robert Cody of El Dorado, Dale Cody of Grove, Okla.; daughter, Debra Grissom of El Dorado; 14 grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established with Hospice, Inc.
Contributions may be left with Kirby-Morris Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.
Lora Lee Carter
Lora Lee (Loughmiller) Carter, 94, Augusta, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004.
There will be no funeral service.
Lora was born on Nov. 19, 1909 on the family farm near Stafford, Okla., to George R. and Sophia (Latimer) Loughmiller. She graduated valedictorian, 1929 at Stafford High School.
She married Forrest W. Carter at Alamosa, Colo., where she was working in the peach harvest. She and Forrest were pastors at the Baptist Temple Church in Delann, Calif., then missionaries in Anchorage, Alaska from 1952 to 1955.
They returned to southern California and were pastors in Baptist Churches in Oak View and Desert Hot Springs, Calif. She moved to Kansas in 1996 to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
Survivors include: daughter, Melinda and her husband, Lewis Baldwin of Augusta; two step granddaughters; five step great-granddaughters; numerous other family members.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, parents, three brothers; Clyde, Ivan, and Irvin; three sisters; Dorothy, Winnie and Nina; infant son, Richard; and special nephew, Othie Loughmiller.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta had charge of the arrangements. .
