Violet Thornton

Funeral arrangements were pending this morning for Violet Thornton, 88, of Augusta.
Mrs.Thornton died today, June 3, 2004.
The Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

William Donald Robinson

William Donald Robinson, 75, Augusta, died May 20, 2004 at Northside Hospital Forsyth in Cumming, Ga.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, June 6, at Unity of Gainesville.
Robinson was a retired Chief Master Sergeant from
He is survived by a daughter, Jamie L. Fynn of Augusta; son Hal Mark Robinson of Wichita; two brothers, Kenneth Robinson of Wichita, and Raymon Robinson of Arlington, Va., two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
McDonald & Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming is in charge of arrangements.

Corrections, clarifications

Toddy Haines Barteldes, 88, Lawrence, who died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Lawrence Memorial
Hospital is survived by her husband Ben of the home and others. A dropped line in Tuesday’s obituary made that unclear.


Woodrow W. Pursselley

Douglass native Woodrow W. Pursselley, 89, Wichita, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004.
His funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, at Mission Chapel Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, June 3, at the Old Mission Mortuary in Wichita.
Mr. Pursselley was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by brother Glen of Durham, N.C., many nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, and two brothers.
Memorials to the Midian Plane of Mercy and the Woodrow Pursselley
Memorial Fund at Douglass High School have been suggested.

Olga S. Mikeska

Olga Clara Stracik Mikeska, 85, of Guy, Texas, mother of Betty Crum of Augusta, died May 26, 2004.
Her funeral service was held May 28 at the Garmany & Carden Chapel in Needville, Texas. Burial was in the Guy Public Cemetery.
Mrs. Mikeska died at the SPJST Rest Home in Needville.
She was born July 1,1918 in Taylor, Texas, to John and Matilda Heijl Stracik.
Her family moved to Guy in 1925. She graduated from Damon High School.
She married Joe Mikeska on May 23, 1943 in San Diego, Calif. He preceded her in death on Christmas Day of 1988.
Mrs. Mikeska worked for Consolidated Aircraft before returning to Texas in 1945.
She was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and always involved in her children's school activities.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Needville and was very active in church organizations. She loved gardening and always had many flowers blooming.
One of the great joys was her volunteer work with senior citizens and the SPJST Rest Home.
Her many quilts are a wonderful part of her legacy. She was the last of the “Guy Golden Girls.”
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Gus V. Stracik.
In addition to daughter Betty Crum and her husband David of Augusta, survivors include daughter Nancy Chapman and husband Scott of Wharton, Texas, daughter JoAnn Sette and husband James of
Hempstead, Texas; son James Mikeska and wife Phyllis of Guy, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher Crum and wife Kimberlee, Chad Crum. Kelly Chapman, Megan Mikeska, Justin Mikeska Scott Sette and fiancee Lisa, Jason Sette and wife Erin, and one great granddaughters, Elle Sette.
Memorials to the St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 9122 Church Street, Needville, Texas, 77461 or the SPJST Rest Home, 8611 Main, Needville, Texas, 77461, have been suggested.
Chad Crum, Kelly Chapman, Scott Sette, Jason Sette, Justin Mikeska, Sterling Schultz, and Dana Schults were pallbearers at the May 28 service. Rev. Jim Aubey officiated.
Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors of Needville were in charge of arrangements.
