June Burden

June Burden, 81, Augusta, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004.
Service arrangements were pending this morning with Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.
She was preceded in death by husband, Henry Kenneth Remmers.
Arrangements are under the directions of Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta.

Leon ‘Lee’ W. Berner

Leon “Lee” W. Berner, 87, Augusta, died Sunday, Sept. 12,2004.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Visitation from 12 to 8 p.m., with family present from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
Mr. Berner was bom on Dec. 10, 1916 in Augusta, the son of the late Owen Omer and Elizabeth May (Owens) Berner.
He retired as custodian and letter carrier for the United States Post Office in 1978.
He served in the United States Army as Corporal in World War II. On April 21, 1945 he married Delza McVay. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son, Dennis and his wife, Jan Berner of Augusta, and granddaughter, Allison.
Family suggests donations to First Baptist Church. Headley Funeral Chapel of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.

Mabel F. Zimmerman

Mabel F. Zimmerman, 91, Augusta, homemaker, passed away Friday, Sept. 10, 2004.
Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.Tuesday. Sept. 14, at the Douglass Cemetery.
Visitation 12 to 8 p.m. today with family from 7 to 8 p.m. at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
Mrs. Zimmerman was born on a farm near Douglass on Aug. 1,1913, the daughter of the late Charlie and Jennie (Bridges) DeFore. Her grandparents were one of the first families to homestead in Butler County. She was a member of the Douglass Church of Christ. On Aug.3, 1935 she married Raymond Zimmerman in El Dorado.
Survivors include: husband, Raymond; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers Clarence, Harold, and Melvin DeFore.
Family suggest donations to American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Headley Funeral Chapel of Augusta.

Helen L. McGavran
Helen L. McGavran, 77, Winnemucca, Nev., formerly of Leon, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004.
A graveside memorial will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Survivors are: children, Andy McGavran of Port Lions, Alaska; daughters, Susan Cross of Lumberton, Texas, Cindy Kukuk of Winnemucca, Nev.; sister, Etta Linder of Leon; eight grandchildren; five great-
grandchildren.
A memorial account in her name has been established with Bank of America for proceeds to go to the Winnemucca Senior Citizens Center.
Carlson Funeral Home of El Dorado is handling the arrangements.
