Thelma L. Lehr
Thelma L. Lehr, 94, Augusta, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, Oct. 18, 2004.
Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the First Baptist Church in Augusta.
Visitation from 12 to 8 p.m. today, at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
She was born May 11, 1910 in Augusta, the daughter of the late Jacob Robert and Nettie Mariah (Lowery) Brenner. On Jan. 1, 1930 she married Charles Lehr in Augusta. Together with her husband, she formerly owned and operated Lehr’s Restaurant and Motel. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and had been for 83 years, which is the longest continued membership at First Baptist.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles and son, Jerry.
Family suggests donations to the First Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Headley Funeral Chapel.
Carl ‘Bob’ Nagy
Carl “Bob” “Papa Great” Nagy, 68, Wichita, retired security guard and father of Linda Evans of Augusta, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004.
Private family services will be held.
Other survivors include: sons, Carl, Jr., Terry, Mark, and Zachary Nagy; daughter Sandy Wedel; brother Joseph Nagy; 31 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice.
Broadway Mortuary of Wichita is handling the arrangements.
Freida M. Dayton
Freida M. Dayton, 72, Derby, retired secretary and Boeing quality control employee, sister of Johnny Mahlandt of Douglass, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004.
Funeral service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Smith Mortuary in Derby.
Other survivors include: husband, Andy Dayton; brothers, Charles Mahlandt of Mulvane; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Smith Mortuary of Derby has charge of the arrangements.
Sylvia Mae Ward
Sylvia Mae Ward, 71, Augusta, homemaker, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
Mrs. Ward was born in Chicago, ILL. on Sept. 2, 1933, the daughter of the late Earl Richard and Helen (Kows) Thompson.
On Nov. 10, 1950 she married George Ward in Chicago.
Survivors are:son, George and wife, Marilyn Ward of Quartzsite, Ariz.;
daughters, Nora and husband, Gary Petrea of Augusta, Jennifer Cornelius and her companion, Michael Joseph of Arkansas City; sister, Rebecca Redman of Mt. Vernon, ILL.; grandchildren, Kevin Cornelius, George Ward, Andrew Kline, Stephen Kline, Christina Petrea, Tony Petrea; great-grandchildren, Kori Kline, Kylee Kline, Destinee Burruss.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George. Memorial donations may be made to Kansas Humane Society or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Headley Funeral Chapel of Augusta.
