Annabelle Abraham

Annabelle Abraham, 89, Leon, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004.
The Celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the Leon United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
Annabelle was born on April 29, 1915 in Labette County as the daughter of Harley C. and Arminta Belle Ades. She moved to Butler County as a young girl and attended the Keighley School. On Aug. 9, 1933, she was united in marriage to Jay Abraham in Rosalia. They both lived in Leon for a number of years where she was a homemaker. Jay died in 1986. She loved being with her family, going fishing, and taking care of her garden.
She was a longtime member of the Leon United Methodist Church. She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star; a 50 year member of the Home Extension; a 20 year leader of 4-H, a Mom for the Rainbow Girls, and a member of TOPS.
Survivors include: daughter, Bonnie and husband, Wilbur Ayers of Burns; brother, Ellis Ades; sister, Mazie Hobkirk; grandchildren, Dr. Jess Plummer and wife, Dorothy; granddaughters, Debbie and husband, John Vogt, Ceresa and husband, Kenton Brown; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jay; one daughter, Delores Martin; granddaughter, Tammy Martin; sisters, Jane Riggs, Dora, Seymour, Carrie Gray; brothers, Bruce Ades, John Ades, and Harley Clifford Ades.
Memorials established with the Leon United Methodist Church or Hospice Care of Kansas.
Arrangements under the direction of Kirby-Morris Funeral Home of El Dorado.
Donald H. Kersting

Donald H. Kersting, 47, Douglass, Wichita Fire Department administrative battalion chief, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Central Community Church in Wichita.
Visitation until 8 p.m. this evening and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Smith Mortuary in Derby.
His survivors include: wife, Laura; sons, Joshua of Boston, Mass., Nickolaus of Silver Spring, Md.,
Benjamin and Abraham of the home; daughters, Hannah and Micah of the home; mother, Evelyn Kersting of Derby; father, Fred Kersting of Derby; brothers, Kevin of Topeka, Brian of Cheney, David of Derby; sister, Lisa
Crittenden of Clearwater, Linda Kersting of Wichita and Lori Kersting of Derby.
A memorial has been established with Butler
County Fire District #8, Douglass.
Smith Mortuary of Derby is handling the arrangements.

Louise Mailen

Louise A. Mailen, 72, Williamsfield, ILL., sister and sister-in-law of Orphia and Ralph Stalnaker of Augusta, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004.
Her funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Williamsfield United
Methodist Church.
Other survivors include: husband, David; daughters, Debbie Slaymaker of Erie, ILL., Tammy Myers of Galesburg, ILL.; four grandchildren; sisters, Nellie Evenson of Neodesha and Alta Gordon of Winfield.
Memorials can be directed to the Williamsfield United Methodist Church or to the Williamsfield Friends of the Park.
Rux Funeral Home of Williamsfield handled the arrangements.

Elvin Leroy Lakin

Elvin Leroy “Roy” Lakin, 69, El Dorado, retired school custodian and El Dorado Honor Camp guard, brother and brother-in-law of Ronnie and Irene Lakin of Augusta, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado.
Other survivors are: wife, Linda of the home; son, Royce Lakin of Latham; daughters, Rene’ Beaman of Wichita and Rhonda Horseman of Winfield; brothers, Dick Lakin of El Dorado, Bill Lakin of Leon; step sons, Troy McClure and Kevin McClure, both of El Dorado; step daughter, Sherry Dotson of El Dorado; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorials in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital may be left at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado, who has charge of the arrangements.
