Carl Allen Johnson

Carl Allen Johnson, 43, Nowata, Okla., United States Air Force veteran, professional truck driver, brother of Tina Jackson of Augusta, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, at the Christian Community Church in Longton, Okla. Interment will be held at the Longton Cemetery.
Other survivors include: companion, Wendy Crupper and their infant son, Joshua Allen Johnson, of Nowata; adopted son, Derreck Johnson-Downard of
Latham; mother and stepfather, Ammie and Roger Rankin of Longton; sisters, Mary Love of Howard, Lea Ann Jones of Versailles, Mo.; step grandmother, Madge Rankin of Longton; step brother, Chris Rankin of Raymore, Mo.; step sisters, Cheryl Mills of Kansas City, Mo. and Cathy Coppes of Chandler, Ariz.; two grandchildren.
The Carl Johnson Memorial Fund has been established at the Bank of Longton for the benefit of his son, Joshua Allen Johnson.
Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard is handling the arrangements.

Loren L. ‘Red’ Ruggles

Loren L. “Red” Ruggles, 74, El Dorado, formerly of Augusta, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005.
Private services will be held. There will be no visitation.
Loren was born Aug. 28, 1931 in Douglass Township, the son of Loren D. and Roberta Olive (Patterson) Ruggles. He was a longtime employee of Skelly, Getty, and Texaco refineries. On April 7, 1951, he married Joyce Godfrey in Augusta.
Surviving family include: his wife, Joyce of the home; daughters, Michelle Davis of Wichita, Heather Schneider and Rochelle Schneider, both of Missouri; sisters, Carol McAdoo of Hutchinson, Ruth Purdle of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established with the El Dorado Humane Society or the Kansas Childrens Service League of Wichita. Contributions may be left with the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.

‘Pete’ Philbrick

William “Pete” Philbrick. 54, Augusta, telephone service tech/installer, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005.
Visitation with family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14; funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, both at Lakeview Funeral Home in Wichita.
His survivors include: his wife, Sue; son, Troy E. of Wichita; daughter, Carrie Dawn Philbrick of Wichita; sister, Linda Williams and brother, Arley Philbrick, both of Hutchinson.; four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Sue Philbrick in care of Lakeview Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
