Harold F. ‘Curly’ Bales

Harold F. “Curly” Bales, 82, Wichita, retired Cessna Aircraft tooling employee and father of Harold Bales Jr. of Augusta, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005.
Visitation until 8 p.m. this evening, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.; service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, both at Hillside Funeral Home West Chapel in Wichita. Burial will be in Kechi Township Cemetery.
Other survivors include: wife, Mary Bales; daughter, Peggy Lawrence of Wichita; brother, Sam Bales; sisters, Juanita Long, Tommie Hendricks; five grandchildren; one adopted grandchild; eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may go to Shriners Hospital, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, Mo., 63131.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hillside Funeral Home West of Wichita.

Allene V. Light

Allene V. Light, 94, Wichita, mother and mother-in-law of Carolyn and Dale Redding of Augusta, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Lakin Commanche Cemetery in Ellinwood.
Other survivors include: four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Otis and daughter Dolores
Poppelreiter.
Service arrangements by Lakeview Funeral Home of Wichita.

Steven L. Potucek

Steven L. Potucek, 56, Peck, owner of Relocation Consulting Firm, father and father-in-law of Jennifer and James Hill of Augusta, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004.
A Celebration Memorial Service was held this morning at Watson Funeral Home in Wichita.
Other survivors are: partner, Rita Blew; son, Jeffrey of Mulvane; brothers, J. Potucek of Laredo, Texas, Kevin Potucek of Chester, N.J.; sisters, Jana Lynn of Boulder, Colo., Tricia Potucek of Denver, Colo.
Memorial with Kansas Masonic Home.
Arrangements were under the direction of Watson Funeral Home of Wichita.

Patricia L. McGrew

Patricia L. McGrew, 73, Latham, former waitress for Kings-X and Toe’s and former owner of Caesar’s, Little Caesar’s, Dingalings, Sables, and The Apartment, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005.
There will be a memorial gathering at her home. Those wishing to attend should contact her family.
Survivors are: son, Patrick and Carolyn of Latham; 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sons, Billie and Michael.
Arrangements are under the direction of Headley Funeral Chapel of Augusta.

Charles Victor Petrie

Charles Victor Petrie, 79, Douglass, retired Boeing Aircraft aeronautical engineer, farmer and United States Navy pilot veteran of World War II, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Wichita. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Douglass Cemetery.
Visitation until 8 p.m. this evening at Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass.
His survivors include: sons, David of Norman, Okla., Jonathan of Augusta, Charles of Manassas, Va.; daughters, Irma Flores of College Park, Md., Sarah Foster of Douglass, and Serena Polk of Wichita; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Juanita Fern Petrie; father, Harry Victor Petrie and mother, Eva Esther George Petrie.
A memorial fund has been established at the Creative Community Living for the Physically and Mentally Disadvantaged in Winfield.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home of Douglass.
