Sylvia Parker

Sylvia Parker, 67, Warner Robbins, Ga., formerly of Augusta, died today.
Service arrangements were pending this morning with Headley Funeral Chapel of Augusta.

Leonard W. Mattingly Sr.

Leonard W. Mattingly Sr., 71, Wichita, father of Donna Gail Beford of Augusta, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005.
Funeral service was held Saturday at All Faiths Funeral Service in Wichita.
Other survivors include: wife, Dorcas; sons, Leonard, Alan, and John Timothy; daughters, Sharon Ann Atwell and Janet Faye Efflant; sister, Anna Fentress; seven grandchildren.
All Faiths Funeral Service of Wichita handled the arrangements.

Evelyn Lindner

Evelyn Lindner, 64, Mulvane, homemaker and LPN, mother and mother-in-law of Gregory and Malia Lindner of Augusta, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005.
Rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday; service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, both at St. Michael Catholic Church in Mulvane.
Visitation until 8 p.m. this evening and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow at Smith Mortuary in Derby.
Other survivors are: husband, Leo; sons, Stephen of Rose Hill, Patrick “Corky” of Udall; daughter, Laurie Ford of Derby; sister, Alice Wampler of Mayfield; 10 grandchildren.
Memorial established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
Arrangements under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Derby.
Dorothy Mae Smitherman

Dorothy Mae Smitherman, 85, El Dorado retired LPN and formerly of Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005.
Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
She was born May 30, 1919 in Augusta, the daughter of Thomas B. and Ida Belle Aldrich Thompson.
Dorothy was a LPN and had worked in Kinsley and Augusta.
She was a former member of the Eastern Star and moved from Augusta to El Dorado in May of 2002.
Other survivors include: son, Leon C. Smitherman, Jr. and wife, Jeanie of El Dorado; grandson, Leon C. Smitherman III and wife, Julie; great-grandson, James Parker Smitherman; brother, James W. Thompson, all of Wichita; sister, Elsie Lehr of Augusta, sister-in-law, Karolynn Smitherman of Wichita.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Evelyn Thompson and Margaret Neeley; brother, Arthur Thompson.
Arrangements are under the direction of Carlson Funeral Home of El Dorado.

Leo D. Camp
Leo D. Camp, 86, Augusta, retired assistant district manager of Master Mix Feed Co. and United States Army Air Corp veteran, died Jan. 15, 2005.
Funeral service was held Jan. 19, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in Sedan. Burial was in the Belnap Cemetery near Sedan with military rites.
Survivors include: wife, Irene of Augusta; sons, Mitchell Camp of Augusta and Steven of Wichita; daughter, Jolene Olson of Paola; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by David W. Barnes Funeral Home of Sedan.

Treva N. Wells

Treva N. (Bare) Wells, 94, Rose Hill, retired nurse, formerly of Augusta and Douglass, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at the Douglass Cemetery.
Visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, at Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass.
Her survivors are: first cousins, Charles Bare of Idaho Springs, Colo, and Marjorie Bare of Douglass; numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Wells.
Memorials may be made to the Douglass Public Library.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home of Douglass.


Marie J. Owen

Marie J. Owen, 91, Winfield, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26,2005.
Visitation until 8 p.m. this evening; service at 10 a.m. Saturday, both at Smith Mortuary in Derby.
Her survivors include: daughter-in-law, Bonnie Owen of Atlanta; brother, Lloyd “Bill” Dunnell of Udall; sisters, Jean Bielby of Winfield, Gloria Sickles of Burden and Virginia Alley of Douglass; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jack
Willard Owen; son, Gary Owen Sr.; brothers, Don, Howard, and James Dunnell.
Memorials have been established with Maude Carpenter Children’s Home, 1501 N. Meridian, Wichita, 67203, and Winfield Rest Haven, 1611 Ritchie, Winfield, 67156.
Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Derby.

Mina Fisher

Mina Fisher, 99, Carbondale, mother of Carl Fisher of Augusta, died Sunday, Jan. 23,2005.
Services have been held.
Other survivors include: daughter, Geraldine Urich of Carbondale; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grand-children.
Memorial established with the Carbondale City Library, 234 W. Main, Carbondale, KS 66414.
