Loraine Gilbert
Loraine (Lee) Gilbert, 83, Whitewater, formerly of Augusta, died Thursday, Feb 17,2005.
After internment in the Pawnee Rock, Kans. cemetery, a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at the Augusta First United Methodist Church.
She was bom on Feb. 10, 1922 in Meridian, Miss. Her parents were William Parke and Ruby Douglas (Davis) Lee.
Loraine graduated from Meridian, Miss. High School and Junior College. She attended Scarritt College in Nashville, Tenn., where she earned a BA in Christian Education in 1946. She worked as a Christian educator in Laurel, Miss. She worked on a Master’s Degree at Garrett Biblical Institute (Methodist), where she met Paul Gilbert, Jr., in Evanston, ILL.
After a whirlwind romance, they were married on Dec. 28, 1946, in Laurel, Miss. Paul was ordained into the Methodist ministry and together they served the Methodist Churches in Arlington, Belle Plaine, Dawson in Wichita, Hosington, Augusta, West Side in Wichita, and Bird City. Paul and Loraine retired in 1983 and returned to Augusta.
She is survived by: three children, son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Nancy Gilbert; daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Dan March; daughter, Gari James; four grandchildren; four
stepgrandchildren; one step great-grandchild; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Delle and Dick Brummage of Del Mar, Calif. and Faye and
Earl Hineline of Belleview, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Joyce Lee of Phoenix, Ariz.; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 58 years, Paul; her parents, brother, Robert E. Lee; sisters and brother-in-laws, Roselle and Tom Wilson, and Nita and Dick Compton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to Habitat for Humanity Int’l, PO Box 1729, Americas, Ga., 31709-9948; Habitat for Humanity of Butler County, 1101 S. Arthur, El Dorado, 67042; Alzheimer’s Association Research, PO Box 64421, St. Paul MN 55164-0421; or Mount Sequoyah, 150 NW Skyline Dr., Fayetteville, Ark.
Lamb Funeral Home of Whitewater has charge of the arrangements.

Arlene (Roehrman) Goetz, 82, Augusta, homemaker, died Wednesday, Feb. 16.
Visitation 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20; funeral service at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, all at Hillside Funeral Home East in Wichita. Graveside service at 1 p.m. Monday, at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Herington.
Her survivors are: daughters, Gwen Lundry of Wichita and Donna Sandifer of Augusta; brothers, Edgar Roehrman of Wichita, Eldon Roehrman of Oakdale, Calif.; sister, Iona Bergamo of Modesto, - Calif.; six grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Clara Albrecht Roehrman; husband, Bill Goetz; daughter, Joyce Watkins Combs; grandson, Lloyd Darren Combs III.

Pauline A. Helton, 82, Augusta, formerly of Haysville, retired restaurant owner and caterer, mother and mother-in-law of Kenneth Helton Jr. and wife Meredith of Augusta, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 22,2005.
Visitation from 1 to 8 p.m. on Friday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m.; services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, all at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
She is survived by: sons, Kenneth Helton Jr. and his wife Meredith of Augusta, Larry Helton and his wife Tammy of Wellington; daughters, Paulette Bradley and her husband Mark of Coppell, Texas; Paula Horning and her husband John of Stockwell, Ind.;
brothers, Elba Baltzell of Carlsbad, N.M. and Neal Baltzell of Hays; grandchildren, Brianna, Bryce, Ashley, Zachary, Seth, Gavin Helton; Rebecca and Jennifer Bradley; Patrick and Tabitha Horning, and Ross McClellan and his wife Karie; greatgrandchildren, Derek and Cody McClellan.
Memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Headley Funeral Chapel of Augusta.
