David B. Mahar

David B. Mahar, 86, Wamego, father and father-in-law of Lynda and Michael McDermott of Augusta, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2005.
His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m, on Saturday, May 21, at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.
Graveside service with military honors and Scripture by Rev. Curtis Cadenhead of Augusta will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Upper Fall River Cemetery near Eureka.
Visitation will be from 12p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 20 at the funeral home.
Dave was born on Oct. 12, 1918 in Greenwood County, the oldest son of Leonard S.
and Nettie May Mitchell Mahar. His early years were spent in Greenwood County and he graduated from Eureka High School in 1917.
He married Marjorie J. Ladd on Aug. 13, 1939, in Eureka. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in June of 1944, serving in the South Pacific and China until his honorable discharge in April, 1946.
Dave owned and operated his own business in Eureka from 1946 until 1964, when the family moved to Kansas City. In Oct. 1967 they moved to Wamego where he owned and operated Wamego Salvage until his retirement in 2000.
Other survivors include: his wife, Marjorie of Wamego; daughters and their husbands,
Grace Ann and Charles Carter of Sioux Falls, SD, Janette and Dave Hize of Wamego, Maria and Jerry Steiner of Phoenix, Ariz., and Hanna and Pat Manning of Wamego; brother, Arthur Mahar of Waverly; 10 grandchildren; Tammy, Heather Bartlett, Shannon Roberts, Michele
McDermott, David, Adam, Tom, Jason, Nick, and James; eight great-grandchildren; Samantha, Sarah and Leah Bartlett, Brayden and Emma Roberts, Jordan, Aidan, and Megwyre.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 75 of Wamego since 1967 and the Midian Shrine of Wichita since 1949. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion and attended the St. Luke s Episcopal Church of Wamego.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Eunice Bogle and Mary Jane Moore. Memorials are suggested to the Augusta Public Library as well as the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Those may be sent to Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, P.O. Box 48. 66547.






Wanda Wimberly

Wanda P. Wimberly, 77, Leon, homemaker and Leon school bus driver, grandmother of Janell Bennett of Augusta, died on Tuesday, May 17, 2005.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20, at Leon Christian Church. Interment will follow in Leon Cemetery.
Other survivors include: daughter, Arlene Taylor of Hallsville, Texas; three grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; brother, Jim Pierce of Pierce City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Bertrum Ray Wimberly, a daughter, her parents, and a sister.
A memorial has been established with the American Lung Association.
Carlson Funeral Home of El Dorado has charge of the arrangements.
