Steven High Dies At 14
Steven Lance High, 14, Douglass, died at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita Wednesday.
His funeral service has been set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Douglass Church of Christ. Keith Shepherd will officiate and burial will be in the Douglass Cemetery.
High was born Jan. 17, 1969 to Doyle and Evelyn (McPherson) High in Wellington. He was a student at Douglass Junior High School and was active in the Douglass Shockers 4-H Club, and the Douglass “D” Club.
He is survived by his parents Doyle and Evelyn; brother, David Lynn; and sister Kimberly Dawn, all of the home. Other survivors include grandparents Vergil and Ava of Derby; Robert and Lucille McPherson of Peck; and great-grandmother, Zeda Eagen of Oklahoma City.
A memorial has been established with the Maude Carpenter Children’s Home.

Nephew Dies In Car Wreck
Kirk Allen Stevenson, 24, Rose Hill, nephew of Ruth Maddox of Augusta, died Friday morning from injuries suffered in a one-vehicle accident at 3:30 a.m. Friday in western Sedgwick County.
His service was at 1 p.m. today at the Rose Hill United Methodist Church. Rev. Clyde Billingsley Jr., officiated and burial was at the Rose Hill Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Rose Hill EMS in care of the Rose Hill State Bank.
He was born June 20, 1959 in Winfield to Glen and Louise Eastman Stevenson.
He was a mechanic for Steven Chrysler Subaru in Wichita.
He lived in Rose Hill for three years afer moving from Derby.
He was a member of the Grandview Methodist Church.
Other survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stevenson of Rose Hill; brothers, Rodney and Roger; a sister, Cynthia, all at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Stevenson and Grace Eastman, all of Winfield.

Butcher Dies In Great Bend
Marie Butcher, 73, Great Bend, died Sunday, Aug. 14 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. She was a former resident of Augusta.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fryberger Mortuary. Burial will be in the National Bohemian Cemetery in Timken.
Butcher was born Jan. 1, 1910 in New Schilling, Russia, to Conrad Schilling and Margaret Wick. She was married July 26, 1932, in San Francisco to Oris Butcher. He survives.
Mrs. Butcher was a resident of Great Bend for the past 13 years, having moved there from LaCrosse.
She was a member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors and Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Rebekah Lodge and Flatlanders C.B. Club.
Survivors include four daughters, Delores Urban, Timken; Evalyn Jacobson, Marquette; Bernice Roberson, Fresno, Calif., Phyllis Barrett, Fresno; brothers, Conrad Schilling of Fresno; four sisters, Margaret Bitter, Anna Corsini, Kathryn Frehling, Betty Schmall, all of Fresno; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas Lung Association.
Sister Dies In Wichita
Marjorie M. Brooks, 73, Valley Center, sister of Roscoe Dennett of Augusta, died Saturday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Her service was at 11 a.m. today at the Lakeview Mortuary., Rev. Phil Chastain officiated and burial was at Lakeview Cemetery.
She was born March 31, 1910 in Butler County to John William and Pearl Dirlan Dennett.
She was a retired laundry manager.
Other survivors include a son, Donald of Wichita; brothers, Harold Dennett of Palco, Orland of Wichita; sisters, Mildred Forristall of Derby, Wanda Koontz of Wichita and two grandchildren.
Olive Allen Dies At 94
Olive Blanche Allen, 94, Route 2, died Saturday at the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Byrd-Snodgrass Funeral Home. Dr. Herbert Cockerill will officiate and burial will be at the Ninnescah Cemetery in Udall.
She was born March 18, 1889 in Oxford to Henry C. and Sarah Shore Rutter.
She married Mark L. Allen. He preceded her in death in 1964.
Survivors include sons, Gerald R. of Augusta, Galeard G. of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., Frazier of Springfield, Pa., Roland L. of Belleview, Wash., and Max L. of Redmond, Wash.; daughter, Emily Ringius of Port Angeles, Wash.; a brother, H.C. Rutter of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters, Gladys C. Campbell of Wichita, Dorothy Shoup of Derby and Ruth Durham of Wichita; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
