Augusta - Callies, Eunice O., 79, retired ; Raytheon Aircraft control point clerk, bom Aug. 17, 1925 in Emery, SD, passed away July4,2005. Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesady; service 11 a.m. Thursday, both at Dunsford Funeral Home. Survivors: son, Harlan
Hartman of Augusta; daughter, Linda Archer of Augusta; son, Stanley Callies and companion, Sheryl of
Beaumont; daughter, Pam Stewart (Richard) of El Dorado; son, Patrick Callies of Augusta; brothers, Kenneth Terveen of Mitchell, SD, Jerry Terveen of UT; sister, Jackie Caylor of Eureka; 9 grandchldren; 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Arnold and granddaughter, Naeshla Yates. Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202. Dunsford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Augusta - Weiss, Louis E., 85, of Augusta, passed away on July 3,2005. During his long and productive life, he was a successful owner and operator of a manufacturing company, rancher, developer, and real estate broker affiliated with J.P. Weigand.
He also was an avid gardener, birdwatcher, and bread baker. He was a former President of Kansans for the Right to
Work and a long time member of the Wichita Rotary Club. He was a devoted member of the Augusta Methodist Church, serving for many years on the church finance committee.
The accomplishments that gave him the most joy and satisfaction were being a loving husband and the father of seven children. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his second son Lee, his first wife Marge, and his brother William.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jean, whom he married on July 21,1967. His seven children are Jay (and Sharon) of Monroe, Louisiana; Lee (and Ruby) of Amarillo, Texas; Jon (and Darla) of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas; Steve of Wichita, Kansas; Laurie (and John) of San Antonio, Texas; Cheri (and Dave) of Wichita, Kansas; and Kurt of Lincoln, Nebraska. He has ten grandchildren and one great-grandson, all of whom brought him great joy. A memorial service will be held at the Augusta Methodist Church, 2420 N. Ohio, Augusta, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2005, followed by a reception to which friends and family are invited. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for contributions to the Augusta Methodist Church at 2420 N. Ohio, Augusta, Kansas; or to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at 313 S. Market Street, Wichita, Kansas 67202.

Chris E. Smith, 87, Wichita, retired electrical engineer for Mobil Oil Refinery for over 40 years, formerly of Augusta, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2005.
Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m., with family present from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 8; funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, all at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.
Mr. Smith was bom on May 18, 1918 in Nickerson. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and served as a past Master.
His survivors include: loving wife, Mildred; son, Chris Smith of Ithaca, N.Y; grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Smith (Lisa) of Ithaca, N.Y.,
Richard D. Smith (Laura) of Albany, N.Y., Jennifer M. Baker (Jeff) of Ithaca, N.Y., Danielle M. Jones (Larry) of New Haven, Conn., Jaclyn
M. Smith of New York City, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Jack, and Amanda.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Sunflower Chapter, 347 S. Laura, Wichita, 67211 -1518.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta has charge of the arrangements.

Shirley K. Bird, 56, Wichita, accounts payable and superuser for Savista-FSC, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2005.
Visitation from 2 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, and funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, both at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East in Wichita.
Other survivors are: husband, Monty Fowler; sons, Scott Pierpoint and Todd Pierpoint, both of Wichita; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Lois Bird of Augusta; sisters, Phyllis Bird and Geneva Collins, both of Andover, and Donna Simon of Augusta; one grandson, Todd Herrmann.
She was preceded in death by parents, Herman and Maxine Bird and brother, Gary Bird.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart
Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, 66601-9865.
