Winifred Marie Ketch

Winifred Marie Ketch, 85, Augusta, died on Friday, June 24, 2005.
Graveside service at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.
Winifred was born on Feb. 21, 1920 in Nash, Okla., the only child of Floe E. (Alexander) and Earl E. Ketch.
She graduated from Augusta High School in the class of 1939 and entered the teaching profession in the fall of 1943, after graduating from Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia.
Winifred taught business skills subjects at Augusta High School for 42 years, retiring in May 1985.
She became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Augusta on March 25, 1945, and served there in many capacities.
Her survivors include her first cousins, Eldon Wilkerson of Indianola, Iowa, Donna Myers of Oklahoma City, Okla., John Needels of Basin, Wyo., Eloise Frankhouser of Grass Valley, Calif., Betty Rayl of Hutchinson.
Memorials may go to First United Methodist Church of Augusta or any charity of donor’s choice.

Vada Beard

Vada (Adams) Beard, 79, Augusta, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, June 26, 2005.
Viewing from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., and services at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, all at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta. Burial will be at McGill Cemetery south of Potwin.
She was born on July 24, 1925 in St. John to Anthony and Deliltha (Long) Adams. She retired from Motorola as an assembler.
Survivors are: son, Kevin Beard and his wife, Cindy of Augusta; daughter-in-law, Kathy Beard Walker and her husband, Gail of Bella Vista, Ark.; brothers, Orville Adams of Leander, Texas, Oval Adams of Independence, Mo., Fred Adams of Valley Center; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert K. Beard; son, Michael Beard; her parents, 13 brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas Humane Society, New Leash on Life Campaign.
Arrangements are under the direction of Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.

Clay Edward Horner

Clay Edward Horner, 91, Hugoton, died Friday, June 24, 2005.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, at the Church of God in Hugoton. Burial will follow in the Hugoton Cemetery.
He is survived by: daughter, Karen English and her husband, Lyle “Chip” of Towanda; two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
Paul’s Funeral Home of Hugoton has charge of the arrangements.

Joan Ivy Mary Pendleton

Joan Ivy Mary Pendleton, 70, Wichita, died on Thursday, June 23, 2005.
Memorial service was held today at Prairie Hills Baptist Church, Augusta.
Survivors are: brother, Walter E. Magson; son, Ken Quillen; daughters, Vicky Buckingham and Christine Quillen; stepson, David Pendleton; stepdaughters, Adreinne Dougherty and Meg Leake; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta handled the arrangements.
