Adam Clifford Bates

Adam Clifford Bates, 35, Valley Center, modification electrical mechanic for Boeing Military
Modification, son of Cliff and Sherry Bates of Douglass, died on Friday, June 24, 2,005.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at First United Methodist Church in Valley Center. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at Baker Funeral Home in Valley Center.
His survivors are: spouse, Jennifer; son, Zac, both of the home; sister, Eve Vincent of Valley Center, Gloria Gayle of Rose Hill; brother, Jake Bates of Udall; grandmothers, Evelyn Bates-George of Haysville, Ruby Morgan of Dallas, Texas.
Arrangements are under the direction of Baker Funeral Home of Valley Center.

Maxine Reheis

Maxine Reheis, 87, formerly of Rose Hill, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2005.
Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, at the Monticello Presbyterian Church in Monticello, Ga.
Mary Maxine Hall was born on April 10, 1918, on her parents’ farm near Rose Hill.
She graduated from Rose Hill High School in a class of less than 20 students, went to business college in Wichita and became a secre-tary/bookkeeper in a local company.
She met her husband, Herman “Rex” Reheis through a mutual friend. The couple married on Dec. 26,1941.
Their three children -Joe, Harold, and Marith were all born in different states, reflecting their moves during World War II and the rest of Rex’s long military career. Maxine made homes for her family
in Calif., Idaho, S.C., Kan., Colo., N.M., Texas, Maine, England, and Ga. Maxine and Rex retired to Turtle Cove in Jasper County, Ga. in 1976 and have had many happy years there since.
She was an active volunteer in service organizations throughout her adult life; Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Red Cross, Garden Clubs, PTA’s, and churches. She was a prolific and highly skilled seamstress, knitter and quilter.
She loved to play cards, read books and was a master crossword puzzler. She tolerated golf, and she was an excellent cook. Above all, she was a great wife and mother.
Maxine is survived by her husband, Rex, her three children, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two great-greatgrandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Monticello Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 246 E. Washington, Monticello, Ga.

Walter L. Whitlock Jr.

Walter L. Whitlock, Jr., 67, Cedar Vale, formerly of Augusta, died on Oct. 24, 2004. Inurnment service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 1, at Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter L. and Eva E. (Davis) Whitlock, and a sister.
Wheeler Funeral Home of Cedar Vale has charge of the arrangements.
