James R. Skelton

James R. Skelton, 94, Augusta, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2005.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, at First Southern Baptist Church in Augusta. Burial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, at New Colony Church Cemetery in Linden, Texas.
Viewing will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at Headley Funeral Chapel in Augusta.
Mr. Skelton was born in Cass County, Texas on Oct. 24, 1910, the son of the late John James Frank and Lilia Florence (Steger) Skelton.
He was the retired owner of Echometer Service Company and had worked at Haliburton testing oil wells.
On Dec. 25, 1935 he married M. Valerie (Stone) in Linden, Texas. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: daughter, Carolyn Mikish and her husband, Richard of Augusta; brother, John Harold Skelton, sister, Althara McDuffie, sister-in-law, Charlie Dell (Stone) Whatley, all of Linden, Texas; grandchildren, Melynnie Williams and her husband, Tom of Tulsa, Okla.,
Cathy Ryan of Andover; four great-grandchildren, Zach Boucher and his wife, Michelle, Chelsea, Caitlyn and Chandler Williams; one great-great-grandson, Dylan Scott Boucher; a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may go to First Southern Baptist Church of Augusta, or New Colony Church Cemetery of Linden, Texas.
Arrangements are under the direction of Headley Funeral Chapel of Augusta.
